Duck hunting
Why the hell does duck hunting make no sense? Ive hunted mallards irl and fast traveling from blind to blind and only seeing them on the water and not being able to set up in a blind near a need zone and call them in for an authentic experience is dumb...the question being is why can't I legit hunt ducks in this game? Am I missing something?

I've seen these tutorials online but everyone thinks duck hunting involves a .22 and a scope(not fun, also i think its not permitted and frowned upon)

Any help is welcome

you make a setup and they come every 0-15min as in thehunter classic
we are doing that right now as testing and yes this feels like classic and pretty authentic to real life as well...shame mallards arent this way

duck hunting is already fix, compare to geese the number of flocks is less, but if everything is correctly set up it works the same ( geese and ducks ), i've try this weekend made 40 to 50 ducks in +/- 45 min real time

I have tried a million different set ups.. different spots that are need zones and where I see them but mallards are never flying, unless I skip time or fast travel I never see them except already on the water.. they never come around to calls or spots if I sit and wait. I don't care to shoot them off the water, you are supposed to call them in and shoot them in the air.

even did a map reset and a player reset

i use normal set up:
the spot is near river ( some lakes are good too ) 10 + 10 decoys, and the water blind near the water inside one of the straws ( choose a place that when you are inside the blind you have 100% camo )
and as i said saturday i kill ducks in the water but also some that appear after flying ( sry for the english )

I hunt in real life and have a very solid knowledge base but the set ups that would work and make sense, or the set ups people put on youtube or forums just don't work, something is wrong with the ducks it's just a fact

I hunted ducks (in real life) for 10 years and this is not realistic. The best weather for duck hunting is when it windy or a cold front is moving in to your hunting location - it often times is raining. When the weather is sunny and fair we call it a bluebird day - no ducks. Ducks don't like flying in the rain, but they do ride the air currents in front of the storm fronts because it give them a boast flying south for the winter. When they get tired or hungry they land. The ducks look for water areas to land where the water is not rough (which is caused by the wind). When it's really windy it blows the local ducks into the marshes off the big water.

In this game it doesn't work that way rain or sun don't matter. And, it get boring waiting around for the ducks to show - sometimes they don't show at all. What i ended up doing is setting up all the blinds at different locations along with 20 decoys each location and just leaving them there. There is a limit to how many decoy setups you can put out in the game and the game will tell you so. I set them up near cabins so i can fast travel to each duck blind. When i arrive, if ducks are present, I crawl to the duck blind, and after i enter the blind, I jump up and shoot the ducks that are there. Jump shooting is a form of duck hunting but i do not consider the rest of the duck hunting in this game to be correct.

I was always taught not to jump shoot them in real life not that you can’t do it but around here we have unspoken rules for a lot of the animals we hunt, like pheasant for an example you never shoot unless the dog or someone else flushes it never while it’s on the ground, but for the fast travel different places I did the same thing with tents and blinds in good areas so I was even closer for maximum chances and never any ducks flying always on the water and usually where you can’t flush them unless you shoot first...the duck hunting is just bad in this game there’s no actually calling them in or even seeing them unless they are on the water when you get there..it doesn’t feel like duck hunting at all

We called people that jump shot ducks 'dike hunters'. Sometimes they would shoot the ducks we called into our set up. I didn't do that. I always hunted out of a blind. You don't have to set up a blind to jump shoot ducks and you can always wait for them to start flying before you shoot in the game. Sometimes we had ducks land in the decoys before shooting hours started (still not sun rise). We just watched the clock before scaring them up to shoot them as they would tried to leave. Sometimes they would land and leave before sunrise but that was fine, more would come later if it was a good day. On a lighter note: I actually had a pheasant fly over my decoys when i was hunting (in real life). And, also too, had a nice whitetail buck swim through my decoys. The buck dragged some of my decoys along with him. I was glad he didn't run off with any of them because man they are expensive to replace.

seams that every "duck hunters" live in the same country ( weather, rules ...) other fact this is A GAME , so it is very hard made every one happy and for the last time i did hunt ducks ( last weekend ) by the traditional way ( call and wait for ducks appear ) and also by crawling ( not jumping ) to the blinds so i can tell that ducks are NOT broken

note : i'm 62 years and also hunt for the last 30 ( ducks rabits hare boars etc ) so dont tell me how is hunting in RL ( btw, here we hunt ducks in late summer, capiche :steamhappy:

Yeah decoys are a bit pricey especially if you shoot into them XD

you must still be playing theHunter Classic then because ducks are broken and why are you getting offended by people telling you how hunting is in real life while talking about a game that's about hunting you should be agreeing? everyone else is on the same page lol. and on the its a game part.....theHunter classic and a few other games ranging back I can think of had super realistic ducks and elements of realism...can't think of the name but it was for Wii and it was a super legit duck hunting game with dogs and everything for its time. I mean geese in this game are actually pretty great along with a few other things even tho it is a game I agree they can't nail everything for different reasons with certain animals but they already had ducks in classic working great how come they don't work for everyone but .22 hunters at 100 yards and you

i had hunter classic but long don't play it ( Fev 2020 ) also the only thing that i said is that the ducks in COTW are not broken ( it was 1 month ago ), also i didn't buy a hunter simulator so i don't demand that for this game. I only use the .22 for the last 1 or 2 ducks the first 4-5 i use the 20G shotgun . Last weekend i had several flocks coming to the caller and kill 4-6 ducks average.
Last thing i'm not the only one that say that ducks work now, my last spot i saw it on yutube a guy call Flinter stating and showing that ducks work now

I'm not not a great COTW hunter, i learn with the others, but if people like to say that is broken i can not do nothing about, i will keep enjoying the game and report only the bugs that i found

PS: i'm not offended

I like the game. I have 220 hrs playing it. Just don't know what to do with dead areas in the game. I'm disappointed with the duck hunting though. I also have the 4 wheeler which lacks power...something i would never buy for any reason in real life...i have a nickname for the little under powered machine 'chitty chitty bang bang' because that's the way it sounds.

I enjoy most of the game as well but theres also alot that makes no sense and I think needs really looked into if they want to continue the series into future games or keep people playing
