This one for example was strolling right over one of those frozen lakes and was therefore easy to spot and call in.

The advantage of hunting them at those lakes is that you can check a large area around you and they are much easier to spot.
There are no lynx in the west and south-west side of the reserve in my experience. Never saw one there.
They are present in most zones of the map, it probably depends on need zones you have discovered and possibly deleted as well.
