Spooking Wildlife
This originally came to mind when using blinds, but I figure I'd broaden the question a bit:

1. If you spook animals away from blinds or need zones or other areas, how long does it take for animals to come back? Can you sprint to a place, crouch in a bush, and animals will eventually wander by you again?

2. If they do ever come back, it seems to take a long time, so: if you want to get to a specific hunting ground, walking can take forever. So I sprint. I know this spooks animals. What is the closest you can be to a hunting ground before you absolutely must walk or crouch to prevent spooking all of the animals you want to be hunting?

That was changed a few patches back, the increased the animal awareness so they stay away longer. In my experience the lower level animals will return but the higher level do not. And i think it depends on the animals. I've had deer come back within a couple minutes. bear seem to take longer, but that may just be me.

I sprint here and there also. i start crouch walking about 250m away, seem to work for me.

You can walk (not run) to within 150m of most animals, than crouch. In my experience, trivials return within 5 min real time, higher levels it depends. Trivials return several times, in CC ill call in roe deer, shoot 1-2, call them back kill 1-2 and often can call them back again...but roe deer seem pretty dumb.

Roe deer are probably the easiest species to get to respond to a caller or lure in the game. I don't know if it makes them the most fearless or stupidest. If you max out the white bars on the noise meter shown on the HUD then you may start spooking animals at about 150 meters. Some species will spook sooner than others, just as upper level animals spook more easily than lower levels members of the same species. At 150 meters I def go into crouch mode because in my experience that is where the majority of the animals will start to spook if they can see me. Crouching also can reduce your noise level by one white bar. Depending upon the terrain and vegetation I go into the snake belly dance at about 80 meters. If you have the perks you only make 2 short white bars of noise when crawling fast and a single one in a slow crawl. That's quiet enough to get you within 20 meters of a herd pronghorn or Cape Buffalo. Essentially it's best to consider crouching at about the same distance you'd place a tent near an area you want to hunt. To me that's roughly 150 meters.

Roe deer are dumber than a bag of rocks.

They will respond to a number of calls...I even think the tent zipper brings 'em in...
