* Tripod made me safe from cape buffalo attacks. Thus I expect to be safe from anything unless elephants and giraffes appear :-)
* I have no experience with that big tent-like blind that comes in DLC, I was not attacked inside so far. But it is fairly big so you might be out of reach when standing in the middle but not closer to the sides
* rised blinds - you are safe. You are higher than on tripod
* lookout tower (parque Fernando) - I was charged by water buffalo and when I was standing on the lowest mesh platform of the staircase I got hit as buffalo passed below - collision model. Slightly above and I was totally safe.
* I do not know whether any animal will walk up the stairs of the lookout tower - I never messed i.e. with wolves or big cats while there
I have had European Bison try to kill me in tripods dozens of times (to no avail); and probably some ten times in treestands (also to no avail). In fact I use that behavior to often get two kills out of one, when the Bison I shot has a buddy which comes over to the tripod to avenge his pal. Too bad Mr. Bison: here's a 600 grain arrow through the lungs (from 5 meters) for your efforts... Boar will do the same thing, and I have used that attack behavior to also harvest more boar from tripods and also from treestands..
Oh, almost forgot, tripods also protect against angry moose. I've been killed by only three animals in CotW (Base game) --> moose, Euro Bison and boar. Now I hunt all of them almost exclusively from tripods and treestands.
Don't have direct experience with really dangerous critters and towers, but believe others who say that hunting towers offer the same protection as tripods, etc.
BTW: Bison will try to avenge the death of a different species. Found that out when I dropped a fox just 5 meters from my treestand. A Euro Bison started screaming when I did. Ignoring the cries, I dropped down to harvest: got trampled almost to death.
But I digress. It is tripods FTW. Treestands, in some very limited instances will work better. I own about 12 tripods (including the three free ones which come with the DLC), three treestands (all free, haven't bought any, but have found good uses for the three free ones), and one hunting tower (to fulfill a quest).
If I ever get around to buying the V. Savannah DLC, it will be because I want to hunt cape buffalo from tripods.
