Trophy/Taxidermy Questions (Your Opinion)
I would like your opinion on this matter. In classic, it was purely preference to whether players wanted to put up rarer fur variation animals that were females as well. With that being said, do most players do that in CoTW? I get confused when the truscore interwines with the medal score to determine whether to taxidermy the animal or not. Do I look at just the trurac score to determine whether to taxidermy or not, or do I look at for ex. Whether it's a diamond or not, and also whether to look at whether it's a legendary or mystical or fabled or not. How do all three ranks tie in together in terms of determining whether an animal is worth taxiderming? Just to let you know ahead, I don't care how much money I spend to taxidermy animals. I care more about displaying their rare beauty. Of course, on top of all this, the fur variation also factors in in deciding this matter. I would like your personal opinion or preference on this matter, as well as what most players in CotW are doing. The good thing is that these lodges are huge so the number of animals to taxidermy doesn't seem to be an issue. Your answer is greatly appreciated!

I go with doing the taxidermy work on females if it's the first of a type of rare for a species I harvest. It's unfortunate that we cannot use a smaller sized plaque than those designed for horned or antlered males (the female head mounts look so puny on them) but it is what it is. As soon as I get an better example of that rare animal (i.e. a male for any antlered species) I'll dump the female I paid good money to have the taxidermy work done on and stick the nicer in appearance one up. I go with the trophy score in most cases but sometimes the higher scoring animal has a rack that's not aesthetic or one of those (like red deer stags) where the lower scoring animal actually has a better looking rack (hats off to the artist that did the level 7 red stag antlers and boo hiss to the one that designed the lower end of the 9-Legendary).

I never pay attention to trophy ratings. If I shoot a beautiful/rare/high trophy score animal I will often take a nice screenshot of the kill. I don't play with friends or have any need to display animals. I enjoy the hunt, getting a certain animal, but once it is dead, I just relish the moment and then move on. I now only taxidermy albino and melanistic animals for my black and white lodge. My favorite trophy is my male albino fallow deer and it was just a gold. I enjoy small game hunting and they are cheap to taxi so I have some diamonds of those but don't display them.

Enjoy filling your lodges, for many, its a very fun part of the game. Especially online players.
You will find the longer you play, the more particular you will become on what you taxidermy. When I just started out I taxied almost all golds ><

I see. Mr. Ed. In other words, trurack scores can override trophy rating score? McSqurl. Any particular reason why you deleted the other fur variation except rare fur golds and diamonds? Was it the space issue? Was it because you got tired of getting them too often?

Dream. I like the "black and white" lodge theme you have going on. That is a good idea. Yes. I transitioned from classic because CoTW finally came up with lodges and truracks and can still be played offline. Interesting to know you had gold taxidermies before. I still have to decide whether to put up golds or just diamonds.

I keep any and all diamonds I harvested before they did away with the QK and CH requirements. Harvesting a diamond was much more difficult then than it is now.

Autobot. Do you mean finding a diamond animal was harder before?

It's been a moving target and it also depends on the species. Right now some species have a bug causing diamonds to be too common. A couple of species seem to have a bug causing diamonds to be essentially non-existent. I believe once that gets fixed they'll go back to being the type of thing you feel really lucky to spot.... but not so incredibly rare that you go thousands of hours without seeing one.

IMO Golds used to be more rare and are too common now across the board.

Mind you, it is hard to pinpoint because everyone has different skillsets, skill-levels, patience and experiences.

Thanks Captain. If gold is too common as you say, I think I will not taxidermy golds, and stick to solely diamonds, any rare fur variation animals, and high score racked animals. Is there a chart like in classic where they list what trurack scores are worth keeping?

Yea I get a gold probably every 10 kills or so, not rare at all. Diamonds...tell you what, I played 1000 hours in 4 months (covid isolation fun) and haven't seen that many of them. Except Harlequin Ducks (Yukon)...lots of diamonds of those for some bizarre reason, and they all use same skin :( so all diamonds and golds look the same. Probably what
Nebulous mentioned about certain species having more diamonds. I know for sure that hares tend to always medal silver and up. But never seen a diamond yet.

Great trophies there. I am glad I am glad to know I am not the only one putting up albino female deer you have in the back right. I just found one myself last night, not knowing the degree of rarity, but either way, it looked beautiful. Good to have some reassurance that gold is fairly common. Do any of you recommend I taxidermy any rare fur colors regardless of the trophy rating?
Old Fox Sep 18, 2020 @ 6:11pm
in my case i put up a lodge for diamonds and rare fur , but until i get them ( only have 18 diamonds and 20+ rares ) i'm fill the lodge with gold ones. I love the animals with antlers so i decide witch golds by the antlers.
When i replace one for higher value i don't delete them i put in another lodge
Now i have a second lodge only for rare / and other fur, and a 3rd one for the deleted golds from the 1st ( with nice antlers ).
Also i'm trying to have all the fur from some animals ( ducks, geese, rabbits... ) so some walls look nice with all the fur from the same animal

I see. You shift your trophies downwards. I like that idea as well. It is what I did in classic. I agree with having some fur variation from ducks geese and rabbits as well. The different uncommon colors look aesthetically pleasing.

the same with multi-monte, i made some and now i repeated with diamonds and rares and the original one i switch for other lodge ( never dismonted )
