Melanistic Puma

So yesterday I spotted a melanistic puma, but unfortunately I didnt have the time to chase it down. But it got me thinking; what is the rarest fur type for an animal in the game?
will I ever see the puma again? :D

Look in the screenshots, I killed one this morning in Parque Fernando, melanics are very rare. If you spot him you have to move slowly and bend towards him without making noise, if he looks in your direction you don't have to move, hunting with a bow you have even more luck.
Go back to where you saw him and at the time you saw him and you have a chance to see him again.

Insist and come back often, you will see him again.

im going to. I only have two rare furs, so it would be nice

I tracked for 10 days an albino bison that I hadn't been able to shoot and on the 10th day I saw it again and managed to kill it.
Maybe I was lucky, but I'm very stubborn and I never let an albino or a diamond get away from me.
I wish you to see him again and succeed in killing him.

Bat Damon has an interesting question. There's only one animal in this game that we can 100% certain it's a diamond just by looking at it and that's the Great One. The Great One is a Whitetail deer with an atypical rack. Other than that animal, I can never 100% sure an animal is going to be a diamond until I harvest it. Having harvested multiple diamonds of several species in the game I can be pretty darn sure for some of those species whether or not I've put the spot on a potential diamond. I can't do it for all species in the game. Bunnies, Bison, Jackals, Coyotes, and Lions fall more into the Forrest Gumps box of chocolates category. I never know for sure what I'm going to wind up with just by looking at it.

My understanding of the game is that, if you did not kill it, the animal is still in your game. The only time you are really shafted is if you shoot it, and...
1. it moves off to die somewhere, and you can't find it or get to it.
2. You try the old save game thing to try to come back for a better shot (they've fixed that cheat).
