.45-70 mission
The mission in Layton to down an animal with the Coachmate.. for 48000 is the rifle worth the mission? Looking at it not entirely sure i would choose it for use over 7mm.. is it useful beyond the mission and does this mission reward compensate ?
Appreciate it
deciding if i should buy it or let it go and will it prove useful down the road.
I do have the weapon pack DLC for M1 and Solokhin i use primarily

A lot of weapons available aren't necessarily a needed thing as they are fun to go out and hunt with them.

7mm arguably the best stand alone weapon in game.

One of the best weapons in the game IMO, for up to 175yds or so. it'll drop everything.

Ok cool ty for the feed back.
I'll grab it
Money is still something I have to watch early on.. few good days i'll recoup it.
I didn't know with the dlc guns if it replaced it in any way.

I started out with the 7mm good rifle, but I've moved on from it.

7mm was a good gun but has been pretty much replaced by the 4 shot 300. 45/70 is a very good gun out to 150 - 200.

As the description says, short range, good in scrub. The 45-70 is one of the guns that there are no real complaints about when used for purpose.

I like the 45-70 I got a double lung and heart shot on a black bear at 150 m.

Nonsense, you can only use the 300. on class 7-8-9 while you can use the 7mm on class 4-5-6-7-8-9 which makes the 7mm much more useful.

And to the OP: The 45-70 is a great rifle, you will not regret buying it.

Money is so easy to get in this game that you will end up unlocking everything anyway.
I find the 45-70 quite fun to use but not as useful as the 7mm due to the shorter range.
Id say unlock whatever you want to use first. Theres not much need to min-max in this game (which can be a good thing). I wouldnt prioritize buying it for a mission since you can always do the mission later.

No mission reward is high enough to compensate for buying solid weapon (they are already fairly expensive).
.45-70? It packs a punch, repeats quickly, reloads quickly. I can make a check but IMHO it shoots and reloads faster than even much weaker bolt-actions. So you have higher chance to hit animal twice in the chest during in-game "2 milisecond shock time".
If you want to hunt animals that fit its Class range or you do not care about legality system in the game - it is very good rifle.

7mm lacks the power to take down classs 7-9 reliably .300 is a much a better gun for those classes. 30-06 drops 4-7 better than the 7mm.

7mm was great in the beginning, but with the DLC's it's become obsolete.

agreed the 45-70 is one of the best when used within its range. Most complaints for it are by people trying to take down animals 200m+ with it.

I disagree, it has enough power for most of the animals, only those of class 9 are difficult. I have just played with it a few days ago and I was surprized by how good it is.

It even has enough power for frontal shots on class 8 animals:

Don't worry about the cost of the .45-70. If you keep playing you will eventually have so much money you'll run out of things to spend it on. I own every piece of equipment in the game, have reset my skills and perks multiple times, have huge amounts of ammo and still have over a million dollars in my wallet. Of course, I also have over 1000 hrs. play time.

Hey thanks everyone :JoeWheelerApproves:
Purchased the rifle
