Harvest Check

I shooted a Red fox in the skull and it was a Gold. Did I passed the Harvest Check with shooting the skull? And when not would he be a diamond?

There is no trophy organ for Fox. They are scored by weight so a skull shot is OK. When you pass your pointer over the Trophy Rating shown on the lower right hand side of the harvest screen a drop down box will appear which shows what the min requirement is for each medal level.

I would not recommend shooting animals in the skull overall, clean lungshots are best. Usually I use polymer tips to get double lung or heartshots. Also I think the lowest score for a diamond is 14 for red foxes

Yes, that headshot caused your score to drop one badge, it's the Trophy Organ that counts, not the type.

Rule of thumb is to never use headshots if you're going for score. There's only a couple animals in the game you can shoot in the head and not ruin your score - Rabbits, Geese, and Duck off the top of my head.

not sure if it's the actual badge or just points that reduce the badge. pretty sure i've botched silvers that remained silver, but i could be mistaken. But without the numbers to look at we can't be sure.

No usually it drops one badge, atleast for my botched diamonds hehe
