243 SOFT POINT
how come 243 cant penetrate roe deer front chest? I just started new game and found out that 243 and 270 are great trucking guns. If you wont hit a spine you gonna have a really nice hike. I've shot 2-3 roe deers from a front, straight heart and it just didnt penetrate enough so it was just flash wound and long tracking while in reality I can easy double lung him with a soft point. In bullet description it even sais it is great for all kinds of deer. Not really! And 270 is too much so no bonus points, and even 270 soft point can't double lung roe deer (which is skinny and vulnerable more than a big dog, almost without a musle on the ribs)... is it some bug after the update or just bad design. I didn't play for more than a year

Did the same. Started a new game and the .243 soft point is really weak.

i would say bug after the patch this morning, there's other posts about penetration issues with different weapons and bullets.

Honestly, its a mess after this update.

Double lung a gemsbok and break his leg to boot ... 0% quick kill.

Hit him in the spine though and 100% quick kill.

I hope so. Because even .243, what we call fox gun or rabbit gun, with soft point will put a massive hole into the other side of roe where bullet went out. I don't like soft point personally because they do a lot of mess.
Hope they fix the penetration soon

I prefer hunting with soft point, in real life. you get more expansion and damage with them than a FMJ or Polymer tip. Those, unless you hit a bone, tend to be a through and through shot which is bad. one of my hunting buddies got fined for that, shot a buck and the bullet went out the other side into a doe behind it. Killed em both, but since the doe was out of season for that hunt, it was a bad deal.

In the game soft points are pretty worthless, it's poly tips all the way since they don't give us FMJ.

That sucks man. But he should've known what happens if he is not some beginner. You never shoot when they cover each other. Because you never know if the bullet hits the bone and change trajectory or if it goes straight. Because usually it goes straight through and out anyway. I'm using soft points as well because it is more certain and you're sure it is fast and painless. But when you hit the bone it is really mess to deal with

Honestly 243 soft point was always the worst part of starting the game for me. I don't know if it's worse now but I started a new game about 3 months ago and it was a chore to use. Thankfully it only takes like 30 minutes or an hour to get to the next ammo.
