Grilling or Eckers 30-06?

I've just entered Layton Lakes for the first time, and I'm wondering if there's a clear winner between these two guns for which Class 3 to carry? I mostly plan on hunting deer with my Mosin, but Bears and Moose I'm not sure which weapon. The Grilling takes care of Bears pretty well but not sure about moose.

I think you mean the Grelck Drilling. And it can double lung moose very easily, and the ammo has great expansion and penetration. however its a bit harder with elk.

I love this gun. The fact that it is a 7mm attached to a double barrel shotgun means you can go from rabbits to bears in an instant. I havent used the 30 06, but because the Grelck is free, might as well use it

Depends on the animal. Anything with a large brain and a short neck like a bear or a bison is fine to head shoot.

But if the animal has a long neck and a small brain like a moose, they move the head about a lot and the target is small. You miss the brain and hit the jaw or skull and that animal is going to take off. You failed to make the clean kill.


Also you can brain shot most animals with an air rifle so I have no idea what is so special about the 30-06.

Just posted this the other day on another post about the Eckers. Nearly 170 meters, class 3, heart lung shot.....no problem for the Eckers !

I recommend the Eckers....certainly my favourite Class 3 gun. I don't use the Drilling but it think it's for shorter range work than the Eckers. I'm not a fan of the double usage, although I get that you carry an extra gun, essentially I prefer a specific guns for specific targets. It's a personal perspective though.
