Stay low and move slow. Use callers. Hide while waiting for them. Be patient.

I think it is easier to hunt elk than red deer because of landscape differences. Elks often come to lakes to drink where it is easy to spot them, however red deers tend to stay in forest. Still, there are few lakes which are frequent by red deers

Since the patch the game recognizes you as a marching band. One red bar on the sound detector when you walk. What is comical about that you barely can hear your footsteps but the game makes it seem you are banging on a snare drum. So it has been more difficult to catch one "off guard" as you walk.

Also if you walking around, NEVER walk with the wind to your back, Bull Elk will smell you coming before you even know you spooked them away. Scent Eliminator is a joke.

Avoid the center of the map, I don't think they spawn there, at least from what I have seen. I usually focus on the sides and two of the four corners, NE, and SW have produced for me.

use Red Deer scent and Elk Scent and Elk Caller

Need Zones also help

I do agree that scent emilnator doesn't work, but the actual animal scents work very well

True scent eliminator doesn't seem to work since last patch. At my favourite stand I could use it and the deer would come right up to me, now they spook at about 75m from smell.

the trick to being decent in this "game" is to hunt as if the animals had guns as well and could shoot at you, be very cautious and silent and patient, always pause before an open area and scan it before you expose yourself, move from cover to cover, use the terrain to your advantage, go for the high areas, hills and such, so you can see down and scan an entire area, you want to see an area, you go high, you want to hide and not be seen, you go for the lows, they will be down there, but you have an advantage, you can see them and they cant see you, you hunt like that, as if they are hunting you, you will do just fine and nail em left and right, you stomp in like you just got of a bus in jersey, yeah you wont see much.

There's a lake not far from the Outpost in Jonsdorf, that is a good place to hunt for Red deer, Red fox and Roe deer. If you're into bow hunting you can bag around 20 or more in one go. They ran away but keep coming back to calls. If you use guns it might be a different story.

Everyone keeps suggesting those lakes around the outpost in Jonsdorf. However I've been there multiple times moving from lake to lake and I never see or even hear any animal. I could walk several kilometers without even seeing a track. I think my game might be bugged
