tips for boar with undamaged lungs

Just looking for some tips on this mission, as it's giving me a lot of trouble for some reason. it asks for pig with undamaged lungs, and that's fine, but everywhere else i hit it does not count as a vital shot. I've hit back, brain, gut, liver, intestine, all have ended in one shot, animal drops, and yet, none seem to count towards this. Only vitals i have left to hit are heart and lungs, and lungs are out. So, Do i have to hit just the heart? Seems like a bit of a chore for a simple side mission. Any help would be appreciated.

You can also shoot it in the head. I guess the brain is a vital organ ;)

i've had 3 brain kills on the boars, easiest place to hit as they generally look right at you, but everyone one has not counted. Says it's not 'vital'. Not sure if this is a bug or what.

Yea brain shots don't pass harvest check, probably because you can't taxidermy an animal shot in the face.

Because the skull is the trophy organ of boars, you can't damage it.
That mission is from pre-2.0 scoring, so it made sense back then but is now a chore. Heart is your only chance.

You should pass the harvest check with a liver shot and the mission too, because it´s a vital organ. Better aim for the liver, than for the heart, it´s very hard to hit the heart without touching the lungs.

Oh yeah I´m sorry, I was wrong. Seems like shooting brain is not the best idea in this case.

You can break it's neck. Aim just below the base of the skull. Brain shots are out now since the harvest check came into being. Spinal shots along the lower body will still work but it you even nick one of those little bones sticking up along it you are screwed.

I was on the same mission about a week ago and was confused about it due to a misunderstanding... I can definitely assure you a shot in the liver counts towards this mission and cleared it for me.

The last picture on the thread shows the harvest screen of that liver shot that cleared the mission for, maybe you were using wrong caliber when you tried to go for liver?

liver or cervical spine will count for this mission. just have to hit the spine dead on, not a vertebrae. When they face you if you're good you can get a heart only shot. i'm not quite that good i kept nicking a lung.

Thanks for the help everyone, i'll keep trying. Not hard to find the hogs, just becoming a pain putting them down.
