Guns not worth buying
Yesterday I had a bit of a dilemma; I own the .300 which I think is superior to the .338 in most ways, but I wanted to move closer towards owning every weapon. I decided against the.338 and went with the only marginally more useful .470 buffalo gun. I must say, the .470 is fun to shoot, even at 266 creds a round, but I doubt I'll use it much. I bought the .233 docent but was not impressed. I prefer the .243. In all, the .338 is the only rifle I think I'll end up buying even though I don't want to spend the 65k on it :(

wish we had try before you by at the shooting range but for these questions Flinter on utubes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI4EHZuN9sA also at that point of grinding for them after buying the 40-70 which I hate and wasted 70k getting the gun and scope just for a mission

That .470 can come in handy. It's basically a 100 meter or less gun but will flat stop a charging Buffalo intent on turning you into jelly.

You can Get .338 rifle for free. Just complete the challange in Parque Fernando which you need to hit 15 targets from a rock circle on the ground. There is a Steam Guide for this mission, just search for it.

Really? I unlocked the .44 magnum there but haven't seen the .338 mission reward yet. Thanks! The 6.5mm is Cuatro Colinas I think...
I'll look into it.

yes 6.5mm came with the CC map. you get a skin from PF for the .338 so you get one for free.

once you play for a while you'll get enough funds to buy everything in the game twice or more. I have every weapon and every skin you can buy, except the .454 because i haven't used the handguns enough to unlock it. started to but then they broke the .22 pistol with the scoring 2.0 patch so there went my rabbit grinding.

I tested it for the first time yesterday on wisents in Hirschfelden and I´m honestly amazed.
I like to sneak up on them until I´m only like 50 mters away and from this distance the rifle is just devestating.
I guess it´s the best weapon against charging water buffalos on close distance.

You really don't need it.
It's powerful but is a complete waste of money without a decent scope.

If you want to stop a charging buffalo use the .454, the bullets have the same stats, it holds 5 rounds and it has a 6x scope.
Obviously, it will not be as powerful as the .470 but at 75 metres and under, it's devastating, basically rendering the .470 pointless.
It also weighs much less, meaning you can carry other items and weapons, that you might have to sacrifice by carrying the woeful .470.

To be honest, the devs made some strange choices with rifles in this game.
Both the 7mm and .338 are break action, meaning 1 shot and that's your lot and the .470 is handicapped by the lack of a "proper" scope!

The .300 is by far the best large calibre weapon and the next best guns are from the weapon packs.

I carry the .300, M1 Iwaniec (30.06 semi auto, better than the previous 30.06 because it's lighter), the .22 rifle, the .454 handgun and either the xbow of 70lb bow (with the rangefinder scope).

I also carry all necessary scopes ( so just the 4 - 8x for the rifles, the handgun scope and the xbow scope or rangefinder scope), all callers (for the reserve I'm hunting on), scent eliminator and rangefinder binos.

I also use the smallest backpack, I find this pretty good because it doesn't penalise you with noise and visibility penalties too much and added to this I have pack mule :)

Finally, this is just my set up but I find it works well for me :)

Don't forget, this is all just my opinion :))
