Best gun for hunting deer.
What gun do I use when it comes to hunting black/white tail deer.

If you have access to the .270. That is a great start.Personally. I use the mosin.

.270 is 0% integrity on Blacktail. Mosin MN1890 is the best, it's 100% integrity on all deer except musk deer.

Thanks for correcting me. I learned something here.

I also noticed that shotgun with an extra rifle round seem to be 100% integrity on many species with rifle mode shot. Can be a good choice for people who hunts both bears and deer (loading slugs for bears). Only downside is that the bullet is quite heavier than the 7.62 appearantly. With an optimal range that is way shorter.

i always use my 30-30 or 30-06 or if you are really good 12ga shotgun

I killed most of my scores with the mosin. Only thing is you can only get soft points. Wich means that your angles are limited. But, if you are a good shot it can down even a bear with a single shot at decent range.

Got a a gold bear of nearly 900 pts. 880~ with a single shot of that gun at QUITE close range. Less than 25m since I got the cheevo.

I don't like to use under powered rifles on animals, i'd rather drop them with the appropriate weapon. less tracking and chance of tracking bug ;)

best integrity chart i've found so far - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NjzGrdT3XqzoOTbTg4u3PgTILjIjjrEWYI8j3_jfmKM/edit#gid=1585983930

.243 and the starter pistol with better bullet.
The starter shotgun also work but that gun have questionable accuracy .

The best thing about the mosin rifle is it replaces the .243 and .270 and is, arguably better than both.
The .270 has limited use anyway simply because there's zero integrity on blacktail and fallow deer.
The .357 pistol is absolutely awful and severely underpowered, especially with the first bullets. Your handgun score needs to be pretty high to unlock the better bullets, which do make a big difference, but it's painful using the .357 to level up your handgun skill for this reason.
The .44 is better but once again, zero integrity on blacktail and fallow deer.

If you have the weapon dlc's then the colt pistol is pretty decent and it also fires shells for duck hunting. This is a really fast way to level your handgun skill, vital for unlocking the red dot scope quite early on :)
Once the red dot scope is unlocked it makes levelling your shotgun skill a lot easier as well :)

The Solokhin MN1890 is the best rifle in the game for deer, except the Musk deer... use a .22LR or .223 for them
Or just do what I do, and don't bother with medved taiga.
I don't enjoy that reserve at all, lol :)

use the .22 pistol on rabbits to level up your handgun skill. very quick and easy. .357 with either round works very well for fox and musk deer.

btw all guns in the game are under powered except the weapon pack DLC's

I think the tracking in it is very fun. Especially at night times.

You can also use the colt handgun, with shells, for rabbits, but ducks really are the fastest way.
Get yourself 3 or 4 set ups and keep rotating and you'll soon open up the entire handgun tree :)

As far as fox and musk deer go, they ain't the most prolific of animals plus the musk deer doesn't have a caller.
Blacktail, Whitetail and fallow deer are much easier to call in, in far greater numbers.
On Layton Lakes you're literally tripping over deer, there's so many, lol :)

@ Thermal Lance

Not sure if you're aware of it, but you can shoot a bear twice with the 1890 and still get 100% integrity.
