Can animals see through trees etc.?
Sometimes i get warning calls when not moving and the wind is not in the direction of the animal, although the animal is behind trees. Why?

If your visibility meter is on the lowest and steps out of a bush they can see you but you cant see them.
It also can be that some animal is spooking them and they will make a warning call. They are not warning of your presence just an predator, like a mountain lion.

The HUD on the bottom R of your screen shows what your visibility is to the animals. On some reserves you can obtain a bit of concealment by standing next to a tree (be sure you are on the R side of the tree because standing on the left side of one may allow it to eat your bullet). On other reserves trees offer no concealment whatsoever. If you were walking before you came to a stop that animal heard you coming from over 100 meters away (even further if you were running). It's on alert and telling you it knows exactly where you are. It's time to go prone or at least crouch. The good news is that it is usually only the little ones that issue warnings. Max level animals seldom do it. They are more than likely gone by the time you get within 50 meters. Oh, by the way, those "mating calls" you get from an animal downwind of you is an animal telling you it knows you are there but are too far away for it to bother issuing a warning call about it.

Really? I often see deers walking together with bears. Seems they are not scared of by the predator.

Puma, Mountain Lion, African Lion, and Wolves chase the other animals and can spook them. Often times it takes several moments of looking for the predator to find em but yeah on the maps that have those predators if you notice animals being spooked and you know it wasn't you it is undoubtably a predator nearby. They can spook animals it seems up to 150 meters or so away from them.

Black bears in particular are seldom aggressive, even towards other animals. They're not averse to meat eating when it presents itself, like finding a carcass, but they very seldom actively hunt for prey. They seem to prefer taking the easiest route to filling their bellies.

Even Brown Bears and Grizzlys aren't as aggressive as people make them out to be. I'm friends with a guy who relocates bear for a living and according to him, even if a mother grizzly sees you approaching their young it will usually just run off rather than deal with you. Relocating cubs is nearly risk free because the mothers usually jet, regardless of the species of bear.

Eh.. This is kind of a false blanket statement.

I've seen videos that say different. Bears are opportunists. Basically whatever food is easiest and closest. BUT. bears will most certainly and can be an extreme predator, especially when hunger sets in.. They hunt fish regularly, kill fawn often, bison calves (with the mom there), moose calves, etc etc. They also eat carcasses, berries, shellfish, garbage picked from humans, etc etc.

So yea bears are not like Tigers or Leopards, actively looking for a moving target to take down, stalking, etc.. They are mostly looking for an easy meal. But to think they cant be extremely aggressive or take down/hunt other animals is inane.
