The 10GA Shotgun
Holy ... Mother ... Of ... God ...

So I decided to test this thing out on medium sized game animals, because the last time I used it it was on Vurhonga lion hunting, and it performed well but I sorta just chucked it back into the weapon locker and forgot it existed for a bit.

So this evening I decided to break it out again, and good lord it hits like a rocket-propelled cement truck!

I started with the slugs on Elk, and wanted to see if frontal shots were still a horrible idea with shotguns (yes, they are, if you're curious). Then I found a Mule Deer doe, still had the slugs loaded and realized Mule Deer were class 6, and slug on the 10GA are 6 - 9.

So I called it in, got it broadside at 34 meters, shot it, and it died so fast I could barely visually recognize the health dropping in increments. So I figured I must have hit the heart. Claimed the deer aaaaannnnd double lung .....

So now at this point I tested the birdshot on a Turkey, dropped it flat dead at 54 meters so that's nice, gonna keep it on me from now on for upland fowl lol.

Then, the buckshot, and the target was a Mountain Lion. It was a lower level female but still a Mountain Lion nonetheless. I called it in to about 20 meters, got it broadside and blasted it. Took the thing all of 4 seconds to die. So then I figured maybe it was the cat, maybe I should wheel back around to tougher game, i.e. another Mule Deer.

So I called in a buck to 30 meters, aimed right behind the shoulder, shot him, and he took about 5 or 6 seconds to die.

Its official, I love this thing too much to ever leave it in the locker again lol.

Also, as a closing note, the buckshot is rated classes 4 - 7, might have to go to Yukon or Med-Ved and test it out on a Brown Bear or Grizzly lol.

I once shot a Musk Deer with the 7mm Magnum at close range. It was uphill from me so I was shooting upwards into it. On impact that little tike was launched about 2 meters into the air, did at least one complete flip mid-air and finally landed approximately 3 meters away.
I can only imagine what a 10ga slug would have done to it.

The 10 gauge is good for up to & including gemsbok. You won't get QK with it on bison & buffalo.
I have not tried it on moose yet, but I suspect you won't get QK there either. It will probably smoke a grizzly, but have not done it yet.

To be honest the slugs need buffed against class 8 and 9 animals, 6 and 7 are fine, but man the 10GA had slugs specifically for taking down Elk, Moose, Buffalo etc. and it seems to fail quite badly at the latter two.

While Ive never shot the Musk Deer with the 10GA I have shot some wolves with it and it launches them back about 20 feet and puts em about 4 feet into the air, and they can weigh damn near 200 pounds (on Yukon) so I can only imagine what it would do to a fox-sized deer lol.

Agreed.

To be honest the slugs *say* they have 45 penetration and 20 expansion (if I remember right) but I think it should be more along the lines of 62 penetration and 25 expansion so it can actually do a number on the biggest game animals (since it was built specifically to take them).

Edit: I know I'm repeating myself at this point but seriously lol, the 10GA slugs need a buff against classes 8 and 9.

I wish we could carry two on ourselves. One with birdshot and the other with buck or slugs because I be walking and all of a sudden a turkey flys away. I don't have time to switch ammo if I forget to earlier, I rather just whip it out and fire away..............O.o
