Layton Lake | Don't receive new story missions? (probably not a bug)

So, it's not a confirmed bug, but I'm starting to suspect things. I finally moved to Layton Lake after getting tired of "Stuffin' them all" in Hirschfelden. Finished tutorial missions and "Visitor" a couple of hours ago, also made a small progress on the available side quests (2 for Doc and 2 for Hope). And that's when I got confused. I currently have only one mission (side quest) — to harvest a white tail deer with the gold score. And right now, I'm not sure if everything works as intended or if there's some sort of bug with story missions. Because, you know, getting gold score will be a time-consuming process for me and I just can't imagine a newcomer trying to complete it in order to get new story quests so early in the game. So am I just being too suspicious?

You'll get new missions as and when you get to other parts of the map or kill a certain animal.

Gold score isn't that difficult really. Just make sure you have 100% consecutive bonus (kill 5 other animals first..or if you kill a good one you think may be gold but you've only killed 3 animals, leave a marker on it, kill 2 other ones close by and then go back and harvest it.)
Also, use the right weapon for 100% integrity - .223 Docent or bow with 420 grain arrows for fallow/white/blacktailed deer.
Lastly...drop it in one shot on the spot. Also, you only get gold for males so target them when ready.

When you do finally get some of those missions, you'll be back here complaining about how impossible they are to do! lol...so don't rush, just hunt, build up cash and xp and open up places on the map. There's no rush to do missions, especially the 'photo' ones, which are a real pain in the a***!

Harvest whitetail buck with Gold isn't really as hard as it looks. After this, you will probably get mission to harvest 3 whitetail deers at least 85kg each. Gold buck might be counted as 1st, finding other two might be really challenging. So far, I only spotted another 85-100kg buck once. Same for moose over 520kg. Such big males are rare and very cautious

I see. Well, gonna try to expore the map more then. As for the mission, I know that it's not too difficult. I've been through a lot in Hirschfelden, including the all-time favourite mission of the community — "Jager #4".

Still no story missions, but I didn't try to explore more, was waiting for the night. Unfortunately have to pause with playing for several hours. But it's night in-game for me and when I'll return, gonna take my ATV for a spin and claim some lookout towers and outposts. If this won't work, than it's a confirmed bug.

Didn't get a chance to do much today, but Balmont is fully explored, still no story quests. Gonna try to explore entire Lake District and complete "Doc #24".

So... I just needed to literally move to High Lake region for a split second, to trigger the next story mission. I guess I'll leave this topic just in case.

Glad it works fine for you. Enjoy the missions! I am on my forth (or fifth?) day looking for 520+kg moose and 85+kg whitetail buck.
