For the MP, I just clicked Multiplayer and went from there. I certainly did not choose to create a new game.
EDIT
I don't know if this is related, a bug or it's supposed to be like this, but now I also have the musk deer scent in my inventory without owning the Taiga DLC???
EDIT 2
I checked it again to make sure, but the game really carried over the MP stats to my SP profile. Yesterday I shot 1 roe deer in the MP game and today when I check my hunting history in SP, all that shows up is that one roe deer with the date stamp of yesterday.
Everything from my SP profile is gone: Mission progress, level, money, weapons, history etc.
Well at least that mystery is solved then.
Now to get back my profile... although I have a feeling I'm screwed here.
Local saved game should be at C:/users/username/documents/avalanche studios/ thehunter call of the wild/ saves
I never used the Steam cloud. I knew there was trouble with it, so I immediately turned it off when I bought the game in February. Never used it once for this game.
As long as Continue is still an option then you have a saved game file. Have you restarted computer and tried again?
Yes I did. But there isn't much to see there other than modified files (16 December 2017). Original date of creation = 27 July 2017. Before that I played up to level 60, but made a new profile in July 'cause I built a new computer.
Unfortunatly I never made a backup so yeah, unless I do a rollback (not gonna do that because reasons) I'm screwed. I just have to accept I lost all my progress, but to be honest: this is unacceptable. Yeah... I'm pretty ticked off right now.
In the meantime I also found out I am not the only one. There even is a dedicated bug thread for this problem: http://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/5/133259227516123011/
If only I would have known... then I would have made backups and NEVER started that MP session. It's not like I play MP anyway. It was just to participate in the community challenge. Now I end up with nothing but frustration. We're talking 150+ hours of gameplay lost.
I know, but I never use the Windows backup. If I want to backup something, I do it manually and I did not backup the COTW files, so everything is lost. I wish I never started that MP session. 150 hours gone in 30 minutes and for what?!
I have that option but am not going to try it to find out.
Nope. Tried that as well.
But thanks for thinking along here. It slightly eases the pain.... well, not really but you know what I mean.
