Raxidermize vs Save harvest vs Accept
When I kill a deer I get these 3 options. What's the difference between the 3?

If I hit Accept, what the hell happens? I don't get any money, and don't see anything in inventory.

If you hit accept you get the money, experience and everything. You need a trophy lodge to make use of the other two options.

Save harvests: - it saves the animal into your trophy manager, under the saved harvests tab and you can taxidermize it later. It's useful for example if you don't have the money to use the Taxidermize option.

Taxidermize: You taxidermize the animal on the spot, and you can put it on display in your Trophy Lodge.

'Save' if you maybe want to mount it in a lodge later but aren't sure or can't afford to at the time, 'Taxidermize' if you're sure it's a trophy you want and currently have the funds, 'Accept' to bank the xp & $ then carry right along

Yea, i have no idea what Trophies are for atm. Thanks. I thought Accepting it will just delete it or something.

Trophies are the animals you shoot.

But I need to buy something first? Because, my first impression of this game so far is that 1. You gonna follow a deer for hours, because they never ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stop to eat some grass or some ♥♥♥♥, and 2. I never 1-shot kill the deers.

If you keep chasing them, they definitely won't stop. They do eat, drink and rest though. Every animal has a needzone attached to them. You should sneak on them, and pay attention to the wind direciton. They'll potentially smell you way before you can spot them otherwise.

You can one shot anything in the game with the right cal weapon, right type of ammo and good shot placement: heart or neck shot always drops the animal on its track, but single lung, double lung or liver shots are also good, those do kill the animals eventually without a second shot needed. How fast, it depends on the size of the animal. A bison can run quite a bit after a single lung hit for example. Polymer-tip bullets are the way to go most of the time, because of the better penetration they give. Soft-point also has its use, those bleed out the animal faster. Try to experiment which one works best for you. You shouldn't go for the biggest game with the starter rifles.

And yeah. You have to buy the trophy lodge DLC-s if you want to put the animals you shot on display.

Thanks..

I'm just playing the free weekend version. Trying to figure out how to unlock stuff. But I ended up chasing a deer for lik 1.5 hours. Once the dropping said "just now", I start crouching and basically the deer was just distancing further and further. And had to run again for like 5 minutes, and so on.

Callers are very useful to call in nearby animals. When you know something is close, it's best to just jump into a bush, call them in and wait. Also a very viable strategy is to just hide near a lake, and wait for animals there. Every species have a schedule when they drink, rest, eat, but they also need to travel from one zone to another so you might have to wait 20 in game minutes or so. You can discover their schedule by unlocking need zones. This game takes time to get used to. Don't let it discourage you if you are interested.

I'm gonna play a lil bit more tomorrow and I'll probably try to convince my friends to buy it haha :D

I played for about 3 hours today and managed to hunt 3 deer and discover like 6-7 "question mark" locations. What should I try to do tomorrow for about 5-6 hours? Do I just try to hunt more deer or fox?

You could try to do some missions maybe, they do kinda function as tutorials. Early game the best is to just shoot everything you can for cash, experience and weapon score.

Yea, I just did the photo mission. Now I have to ID some deer sounds and another one, can't remember. Aright.

Btw, is better to play with some 2-3 friends? And do we need the DLCs or we can have fun with the base game alone? :)
Ulf Jun 20, 2020 @ 1:52pm
You definitley can have fun with the base game. I like both Layton and Hirschfelden. Also you can play on any map in multiplayer if there is a host. You don't have to own it, which is a great way to try them out and see which one do you like.

So DLCs are basically other maps? Or there are DLCs for new animals or weapons?
Ulf Jun 20, 2020 @ 3:54pm
There are small weapon/equipment packs and there are big map DLCs with a new map, new animals on it and usually at least one new weapon.

And which of those do you personally recommend?
