Highest calibre for Lions?

Sometimes icons can be confusing. There's the .470 Nitro, but I assume it is for Bisons and Bufalos only? So is it the .338 then? Also I have this 9.3X74R ammo that says it's for Safaris, but I can't figure out which rifle it belongs to. I swear I check them all I can't find it. And is this one good for Lions?

Basically, I want to put down these mofos as quick as possible, as I don't want these hardened killers to pounce on me and one-shot me ever again.

I think I figured the 9.3X47R out, but I'm not sure. Is it for the 16-gauge?

Yes the 9.3 ammo is for the 16-guage (drilling gun). Lions are class 9, so the .470 is a perfectly acceptable round for them and you can pass the harvest check for lions with it. The main problem with the .470 is the lack of a scope which means unless you're really good at taking long shots with iron sights you're going to have to keep your shots within 100-150 meters.

There is a codex ingame that tells you what class each animal is, to access it just press esc and go to codex and then open the wildlife tab and it will tell you about the animal (Class, active times etc.).

The CM used to have a list in the beta forum but the animals list isn't showing up for me but here is where it was.

The lions scare off pretty easy if your brave enough to be bold. Walking round up right near ish to there location for a few minutes will have them move off.
Also they are stupid, theyll run right by you if you sit still, unless you are in there direct path then its curtains.
I found the 338 was fine but i now use the .300 which is good, like everything else lung shots will have it down pretty quick, they are fast movers though.
Over 150m is advisable :-)

Up close and personal with a Loin can be a major rush as well. Hunt them with the Rhino. :)

Yes. 50 meters or so forget about it. And the .300 is useless at this point even if it got multiple shots, it doesn't kill fast enough, and you won't get a chance for a second shot. It pounces like a xenomorph.

And it kills first shot. I haven't tried the .338 though. But I found slugs aren't enough either, at all. These guys a ferocious as hell.

Yes, I've just unlocked this gun not a long time ago. Didn't get the chance to try it a lot yet. Certainly not on Lions. But your shot got multiple vital organs hit. Not sure if say, you only hit 2 lungs, that would still be enough, with only one shot. Even with that gun.

I HATE dying LOL. Kills my buzz off completely. I hate it even more because there's no penalties it seems. You just respawn at the nearest cabin. So you can basically do this forever. Breaks my sense of immersion.

For instance, I've been attacked by packs of wolves where I didn't survive the ordeal. But I've been able to kill a few before getting eaten alive by these rabid mofos. SO I just go back there, and harvest my kills, after I've been killed. Okay...LOL, then I can even track the rest of the pack to get my revenge on them, and I've also done it.

It's like, cool...but not cool. Am I playing Friday the 13th as Jason Returns or something? LOL

I hit more then the lungs on this beast, stomach, liver, cord, vertibre. but yea he got me too, if you look close you'll see his lioness in the top right he charged after I took her.

That's what I said though. That I'm not sure it would have gone down as fast if you only hit 2 lungs, instead of all those vitals. So you're a wife killer. Good on you.

The Rhino is great but wait for the more expensive round, it really packs a punch. Best tho is keep ya distance.

I just got rammed to death by two Cape Bufalos that I shot with the Rhino, speaking of that pistol. I ran like hell in circles for minutes, but they wouldn't go down. First ram I took a medkit, but I think they just sandwhiched me or something the second time, so insta-death. I was so pissed I almost broke my desk. I freaking hate being killed.

By Bufalos is insult to injury. Now I'm taking a break, but I'll check tomorrow if it was just the first weaker rounds. I bet it was. And I most likely also didn't hit vitals so, that was it.

I bought the two weapon packs I was missing, and the two lodges. I was happy to see a sale today. Thought I would have to wait until Summer Sale. A little earlier is welcomed. Just crossing fingers I don't loose trophies like some claim it's happening to them.

I make constant backups of my save folder, not sure it will help in case it happens.
