I had a doubt, now it's confirmed.
How long does that skill illuminate the animal for? I have one skill point coming to me at level 60 and wasn't sure if it was worth considering.
The hunting pressure only appears where the animal was first hurt by a human. Spotting the animal makes the spotting icon (looks like a silhouette of a wild boar) appear on the map where the highlight disappears. If the animal runs off while it's highlighted, you end up trusting the spotted icon as a better reference to see where the animal first ran off. If it drops dead before the highlighting wears off, you can find the animal way easier.
10 seconds is pretty good. That, coupled with spotting with the scope on the weapon would make it pretty easy to track an animal. Most of mine drop dead pretty close but sometimes I go for the long snipe shot and dont feel like spending a minute just to find the blood trail.
+1. The skill is "tag." I think you can put two points into it (can't remember, maybe its 3 points?). One of the points extends the time of the highlight. It is very useful. You spot the animal & shoot it. If it runs, follow it with your scope while it is still spotted. The "last spotted" icon will move with the animal. When the spotted highlight fades out, pull up your map & place your marker on the "last spotted" icon. Walk to the marker & pick up the trail. Cuts off a whole lot of time spent tracking.
The last point in the skill allows you to spot up to 3 animals at once, but I don't use it.
