Audio cues
The hardest thing in the game for me is making sense of where animals are in relation to me when I hear them. I don't use headphones but if I did, does the sound change when you face or face away from the sound? When I am in a tripod at night (but sometimes even during day) I often find myself spinning around looking. Anyone else struggle with this or have advice?

Yeah, you really need decent headphones to get good directional sound, an d then you won't be guessing which way to look. Mine are just a $30 Plantronics headset with a 3.5mm plugin to onboard audio and the game gives me very good sound cues. It allows me to locate to within 30 degrees or so where the animal is coming from/going to and many times what kind of animal and even the action it is performing. In time you'll learn the different sounds of bear/coyote/deer/etc. as well as what activities they do.

Head phones all the time unless ive got an audience, Its easier for sure to differentiate sound direction with head phones, its not perfect but better than speakers. With speakers I have to turn 90 degree to really id the sound direction. On occasions I still do this with head phones.

Game requires headset to determine location of animals, but a giveaway is that bit of flashing foliage that you see when an animal goes through brush.

no it doesn't. a good sound system and speaker placement works just as well. headphones are just easier.
