Animal Spawns Decreasing
After awhile the animal spawns in Layton will decrease drastically. I don't have a lot of Hunt Pressure on the map. Removing Hunt Pressure in one zone is quite easy if animals will spawn elsewhere on the map, but they are mostly around the outside edges. Almost all are missing from the center of the map from the southern coast to north of High Lake. I have searched for solutions & tried everything I could find like the simplest of solutions of reloading my save, deleting the cache (on PS4 by powering down then unplugging the power cord for a few minutes) uninstalling & reinstalling the game, even tried restarting my save. All of this did nothing more than make it worse. Most smaller animals will spawn. But the bigger animals, herds or alone, are nonexistent in the greater central part of the map. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game (prone is OP in my opinion) but when there's is very little to hunt I feel like an A$$ sneaking around literally by my lonesome. Thanks to anyone that may have any helpful suggestions. & Happy Hunting (if you are able to)

Have you ever started a new game since about April of 2019? That's worked for quite a few friends of mine on console since apparently some old bugs never get wiped out of old saves.

Restarted a couple times, only started playing about a month ago. At the start of my very 1st save there were animals everywhere, after just a few hours in that save I noticed the animal population was dwindling over time. Then after crawling around for more than 5 hours real time to test if crouching was too loud & not finding a single track or hearing any vocalizations I decided to restart the save. Animal Spawns are still low regardless. Then I went searching Google, read about animal spawn count in console is decreased due to hardware capabilities, but seriously, I'm sure ps4 can handle quite a bit more than the game is coded to let it handle.

In addition, 9 out of 10 need zones I find are occupied by only 1 animal. Therefore, killing that 1 will delete the zone.

I have the same problem. I would say that my animal count is about 10% of what it was when I started the game. I don't need another gun or reserve. I NEED THE SAME NUMBER OF ANIMALS AS WHEN I STARTED!

I'm about ready to give up.

nothing has changed for animal count since the last pop reset. Animal awareness changed so they're more nervous and don't come back as easily or quickly.

ps4 have some serious problem of loading.

i walked around medved map for hours and didnt noticd a single animals, no sounds, no traces, nothing at all. seems like animals just didnt spawn at all.

others maps work but sometime does similar , its definitly a problem with loading because if i restart the game again , it work and many animals spawn.

i think the game have a bug on the loading script for animals on ps4

I too have had the same issue on PS4; I "over-hunted" Moose, and it seems that all my other animals have significantly decreased. This of course happened after the last update. I no longer see whitetail, the blacktail are gone as well, and I'm left with Moose in every zone. So frustrating as the game is awesome in itself, but it seems that everything is geared only to PC.

spawns haven't changed. you kill a BT, you get a BT respawn the next time you start the game, they're not instant respawns.

Reverse Spawning???
I have been hunting P.F. religiously, specifically for Red Deer and Water Buffalo, and I recently took out five (5) Mythical Water Buffalo that were within a point or two of Diamond. Since then, the only thing that has spawned are Level 7 Very Hard - and this is even after 15 in-game days have passed!!! Any suggestions as to why I haven't gotten any Legendary's to spawn since then?

Anything about the spawn system is speculation. There is no reliable data on it. So some people claiming that anything you kill spawns as "same rating or higher" are just talking outta their rear end - if they actually thought it through that would mean that eventually, all animals in a reserve would only spawn at the highest rating of their species, so that could never be true.

For all I can tell, you simply got unlucky and there are no legendary buffs currently on your map, or you simply haven't found em.

yeah totally agree, i've seen the lower level spawns myself but that can't happen right?

In my Grizzly Experiment where I shoot all Male ( and many Females ) In the whole East and South Area of Yukon I have seen that it seems that a random number respawns.
In my first wave I had 22 Male Bears where i had 4 Mythical and most of the Rest was 5 to 7.
Then a few days later ( there were none/fewer Bears for some days) more new spawns showed up after i sleept for some days..and there were most of them only LVL 3 to 5. No more Mythical.
And after my second wave and around 20 in game Days ( fast-forward Sleep) I had luck and a LVL 9 was there but otherwise no LVL 8 or 7 only lower ones.

So I guess its Random what's LVL does spawn or at least it's not true that only one LVL lower or higher spawn.

But it doenst matter the most important thing is to shoot Animals to replace them with better ones (in terms of Rating)

And look at many places on the Maps, Diamonds can be allready in a corner where you never look at.

okay yeah...

there is definitly some problem in PS4...

i made a test all that day/night....

i tryed 5 maps (yukon, german, russian, south america and spanish map)
here exactly what i did... read carefully before coming saying i m doing bad, its a test and i know what i m doing LOL

- i placed a marker at 4km from my spawn point in random direction (i restarted this from 3 different spawn point around each map, with marker set on position where animals spawn alots normally)
- i only run, no walk, no lurk, just straigth loudly running

on the 4km of distance on absolutly every map. i saw :

- 0 foot prints on ground
- 0 animals spotted (kind of logic as i run, but still, could potentially see soem animals runnig at distance)
- 0 animals sound (alert sound as exemple)
- 0 poop or relaxinx/feeding/etc spot marker on ground

i did that at 10AM, soo print are not hidden like during night.

nothing... absolutly nothing.

i also noticed that 60% of time, i can not hear the horde of wildbeest in africa, i only hear them when they are close like 100m away.

my console work good and i did the same test with a friend console, he got almost same result, all the map have zero animals , no print or anything... the only exception for him was at the south america map he hear some water buffalo. wich i didnt hear in mine. But still even tho, no prints on the ground or anything.

soo yeah.. PS4 game is hardly bugged right now. and that's been for month.

@macadamstreet. thats quite a lot of testing. but I agree with you. console spawns are far less than PC. & yes I understand that PC can handle far more than console, but,,, developers these days that are porting pc games to console should attempt to code them differently from their pc counterparts. As in, do what Rockstar Games did with GTA, (story & online) & that is whatever you are not facing / what is not on your screen, is not technically there. this is an innovative way to keep the game running smooth and not clutter up the cache with unneeded resources. If Expansive Worlds would implement something like the type of coding that Rockstar Games uses in GTA, console Hunters on Call of the Wild would be able to have far more animal spawns in an area radius around their specific position on the map. But I digress, if something like this has not been implemented yet by Expansive Worlds, then nothing like this will never be done by Expansive Worlds! & Thank You for doing such extensive testing, I wouldn't have the patience for that lol.

I should also add, that I did purchase Call of the Wild on PC recently, waiting for my 1660Ti graphics card to arrive. then I'll be playing more on pc than on console.

to be honest, during my long test, i didnt expected to fall nose to nose with an animal, because i run and i m aware that they can hear from distance and run.

But i would at least, expected some prints on the ground... or spot for food or relaxing etc.

i honestly knew something was really wrong when after like 2km i didnt saw any traces. That was very suspicious.

and honesty, i like to play this game for hunting, trying to catch albinos or rare great animals. so you can imagine how frustated and bored i can be with absolutly nothing around, feel like i played some hiking game or something... having no print and no sound pushing that feeling at the max too.

i dont know if the devs are going to check about this. but i noticed that sinze a few months (beginning of 2020), the game have become more and more boring on console... animals tend to die less ,sometime you shoot the animal perfectly but the bullet pass through and nothing happen to the animal or sometime it took a nice shot but just vanished completly.
Happen again this morning, i shot a boar in german map, having a huge blood spot on the ground but no print around, no blood traces, nothing... its like i used a rocket launcher and explode that boar on teh spot or something lol.
also animals tend to detect you more easier , they can even smell you when you are against the wind at more than 200m of distance.
player make too much noise when walking, even crouch or on the ground. To give an exempl, i make
- 3 level of white/1 red level of sound when crouch/laying and walking slowly on green grass
- 1 level of red when walking slowly on green grass
- 3 level of red when passing through a bush (whatever the bush)
- 3 red level when running (wich mean as much noise as driving the ATV)
and most of time i m half visible whatever the position, but animals still can see me sometime on the other side of a hill...

feel like devs pushed the game to extremly difficult or reduce drastically the chance to hunt. including of course the spawn that have been reduced at max.

i give the game a second chance, but still very dissapointed, soo i feel like i m gonna uninstall it definitly from my PS4. Maybe get it on pc and even use some cheats or something to spawn even more animals.
(after all, i bought that game for hunting, not for hiking XD)
