and also the Treestands & Tripods DLC (mainly for the tripods).
This will give you what to NEED to enjoy the the game from Day 1 and give you plenty to do for a long time. More than enough to keep you occupied until the next sale, at which time you will have a better idea of which direction you want to go with the DLC's.
I bought the 2019 bundle last time it was on sale, it was 70% off, so wait for the next sale. Steam should have a sale coming in June, they always do.
I am now 450 hours into the game and I've only just now completed the first 2 maps that come with the base game, and I still haven't used everything that comes in the 2019 package.
It's a lot of content.
CotW is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time getting into it. If you decide you love it you will be here a long time. Those DLC's aren't going anywhere and sales are frequent enough.
If you have the coin, and you are certain the game is for you, then the full deal could probably be worthwhile.
Otherwise, just get the base game, ATV and Tents/Ground Blinds and go from there. There is really nothing in the DLC's that could be described as essential to have, but the kit does provide convenience factor, and the firearms give you a broader choice.
The reserves are always worthwhile as they increase the types of animals to hunt, and different challenges in the various terrains...there is a significant difference between stalking a deer on Layton Lakes, and stalking a lion which is stalking you through a thicket on Vurhonga.
If you are in doubt, just add up the various prices for getting things separately, and compare them to the bundle prices...worst case get the base game and see if you enjoy it. It can be a real time sink.
I see users with hundreds of hours played, I think I might make the move to get the base game and the ATV and tents package as you hinted at. Seems like if I get the other maps right now I might feel a bit overwhelmed, so I think I might be going down this route.
i still am a newbie but i think that i can give you some ideas.
Get the 2019 Edition ( good price for what comes with )
get the Duck DLC ( for the 20G shotgun )
start hunting, and remember you gonna want in game money , and for that go hunt goose with the 2 shotgun 20G ( easy and fast money )
In time you will discover what you like and than buy more maps and other DLC's ( summer sale is near )
hope this helps and welcome
So true JP!! I am (only) at hour 260 (but because of covid isolation did it in 4 weeks) and just now am getting into the "meat" of the game...so much content in just the base game. I think the tent/ATV dlc is kinda necessary. Yukon dlc is VERY good imo. The tech weapon pack is nice if you want to organically grow, like most players, from rifles into bows. The 30-06 is a great weapon. If you want to make quick money in game (things can be pricey), get the goose hunting dlc.
You will get so much entertainment out of this that whether its $40 or $50 type thing becomes a minor point. Games can sometimes really grab my attention, but none has like
this game.
Just my two cents :)
