Birdshot is improper ammo for red foxes?
So apparently birdshot is improper ammo for red foxes. I find this to be a little odd when you consider an ingame fox is just slightly bigger then a goose. If I remember correctly, in the old days of TH:COTW , birdshot used the be the recommended "caliber" for red foxes, right?

What are your thought on this, does it make sense that birdshot is invalid ammo for red foxes?
Anyone got experience of hunting foxes in real life, what kind of (shotgun) ammo do you use for foxes in real life?

ofc , Birdshot should never be used on anything besides Birds or Rat sized Animals.
And Also Buckshot should only be used if you want to redeem an animal and dont have anything else from closerange.
Or if you are realy close on the Target.
In my Opinion.

I've used #4 buckshot on foxes with good results. It doesn't put large holes in the hides and there are enough pellets in a shell to get a good spread.

In RL I use a .223 on fox. Each hole in the hide reduces it's monetary value when sell it. When in doubt, check the integrity chart IOT discover what to use on the various beasts in this game.

I'm not sure if physical size is a good way to assume what ammo should be good one what. I think it's how the animal's interior is built that counts. In that respect the game's ammo classes do tend to make sense most of the time (as long as you're not trying to compare it to absolute real life standards)

Well the way I see it, a geese seems a lot bulkier and "thicker" than a skinny looking fox, so that is why I assumed that birdshot would also be compatible for foxxes. And matter of fact, I could swear that in the times before the Animal Classes overhaul, birdshot was actually recommended caliber for red fox.

Birdshot definitely worked well for fox before the class overhaul. Then again birdshot also worked for elk lol.
