For example 8mpbs was the average internet speed in 2005. Now average is more like 500 mbps. So 8mbps is less than 2% of the average.

And I don't know where Captain is fishing for his data, but there are loads of places on this planet where 8Mbps are rare, or maybe reaching usual levels.
I said average speeds, not speeds in places that don't care to upgrade their infrastructure. 8 mbps is incredibly slow for 2020 standards no matter how you slice it
