More hackers then ever?
It seems like everyday getting on here I see at least one new hacker to add to the blacklist. Is there anyway to report them?

I've run across a few. They don't bother me or effect my game. If I see a cheater when I'm hosting a game, I boot them

Whats the main idea

I wasn't debating semantics. I know it's not called "hacking" to use a trainer or a mod. If you want me to say "you're right" because it's not "hacking" then congratulations. As far as the "main idea" of this entire thread, it's really about people using cheats in multiplayer games, not IT terminology. The original poster didn't use the right term, we get it. I think anyone who reads the last 3 or 4 posts before this one gets it now.

As far as people using cheats in multiplayer games, they shouldn't be. Would you agree that I'm right about that?
cheaters are despicable people, cheat in a game, you'll cheat in anything else. just my take on it.

I think the biggest issue they bring to multiplayer is effecting the hosts game overall, in multiplayer and in single through spawns. From what i know of the spawn system, there is always a set amount of animals on a map. One dies it gets replaced by another of the same species. What changes is the status or size of the animal.
Thus, the distribution of high end spawns, Gold and diamond changes. If in multiplayer a hacker jumps in and guns down a bunch of gold, or diamonds, they may respawn as trivial nothings, or bronzes, thus robbing the remaining players of a chance at those higher levels.
If this is the case, then yes, they hurt a session, as most multiplayer runs, your looking for the big ones.
If i'm wrong on this, then let me know, but if i happen to see speed cheats and the like in a session, i leave the session. No point hanging out when the big game is getting snatched and the challenge is being taken away.

Sorry to necro this but...aren't cheats detectable? I remember reading on the game website that any cheaters will have their steam accounts banned. Are these just empty words?

I've only just started using the mods for this game like the Longer Render Distance Mod and the Logical Weights Mod, I don't consider these to be cheats in anyway, in fact I actually consider these to be community created bug fixes for the game.
you're wrong, it's an exploit/cheat, and using them is against the EULA you accepted and agreed to when you started playing. So have fun being a cheat.

I think it would be funny if EW and Avalanche took action and shut all these mods down and all the players using them. Man would this forum explode lol

Agreed

This is actually a pretty deep conversation that gets into psychology and societal factors of the person when you break it down.

I've actually written and had pages/essays worth of conversations about just this topic. Cheating/min-maxing/'racing-to-endgame'. Basically not 'playing' the game but doing anything you can to 'beat' the game or 'break/bypass' the actual game play.

It usually breaks down into a few things. Self-Esteem/Ego, Entitlement, and Patience.

I will say and I've said for a long time. The best thing about MP is the people and the worst thing about MP is the people.

This is the reason nowadays that unless i'm playing with family or legit *super chill people* I never play any game MP anymore and only solo. it saves me so much headache and drama. something I've learned over my 30+ years of gaming.

So the people downloading Mods for Skyrim or Fallout or Witcher 3 are cheating? The people downloading mods for Farming Simulator or Transport Fever or Train Sim World are cheating? Despite these games actually offering the ability to download mods from inside the game? How about the other hundreds of thousands of games on Steam that have Workshops for downloading mods? No these people are not cheating, they are just modding their PC games, to enhance their enjoyment of their product which they have paid for which they are perfectly allowed to do. The only thing I would consider against an EULA is if people were distributing Mods, but putting them behind a pay wall or charging people for them. Then that would be wrong as they would be making money off assets that don't belong to them. However free mods, and people tinkering to fix issues and improve the game. I say bring it on. This game has really needed mod support from day one, so am happy to see we're getting some now. It'll be interesting to see what mods people come up out with.

Reverse engineering someone else's work to make a "tool" or "mod" or "cheat"?

Sorry man but if I write a game and someone does that to my game, even if they don't "sell" it and try to make their money some other way, I'm going to do everything in my power to find out who they are and bring them to justice in accordance with the law.

Just because some other companies don't want to bother worrying about it doesn't make it right.
To cite a case in point...

When mods became available for console for Beth RPG, modders had to fight tooth and nail to get Beth to do anything to prevent mod theft...once Beth monetised their modders, they were right off the mark in throwing out cease and desist orders and threats of litigation.

As far as I'm concerned our devs are on the mark, added to which they aren't tainting us with monetisation filth.

Very interesting POV. I agree...

As a sanity check, I went to the website & read the EULA. Here is the related excerpt of prohibited use:

"Use of your own or third-party software to modify any content appearing within the Game, its environment or change how the Game is played or services used"

If you can run faster, see further, or carry more stuff than my guy, you are cheating, plain & simple. And it is expressly prohibited by the publisher.

IMO doing it in MP gets a 0 on the 1-10 scale of respect for other people.

For me personally the respect for the individuals that speedhack etc. is -596,789,879,059,231.7903

Edit: The above number is negative five-hundred-ninety-six trillion seven-hundred-eighty-nine billion eight-hundred-seventy-nine million fifty-nine thousand two-hundred and thirty-one point seven nine zero three, for those of you like me that are short-sighted and your eyes cross when reading long ass numbers.
