Now, w scoring & integrity 2.0, you can hunt these animals w the 270 (as it should of been all along). As you would expect many people re-thought their load outs & have put the MN in the locker. But, it is still a very good rifle. At the present time, its only advantages over the 270 are a bit less weight, cheaper ammo, & it is good for class 3 game, which the 270 is not. IMO the 270 has a small performance edge, but I don't have hard data to back that up.
Do you need the rifle? No. But, it is fun to shoot & I am using it (along w the 45/410 revolver for rabbit & coyote) on Layton as we speak. When I hunted this same map a week or so ago, I used the 270. Either one will kill class 4 deer & hogs w full QK bonus.
It also has a really nice reload animation as well.
Practise and use what you like and feel confident and comfortable with but i love the fact that 2.0 scoring made the older rifles of use again bringing diversity to loadouts. Never used the M1 before the new scoring system, compared to the 30-06 it takes a little getting use to due to the recoil, but i do like it and have found it been a rifle i have in my loadouts now.
