How to trigger the wolves to attack
Is there a trick to trigger a wolf attack? 90% of the time the entire pack flees or pass right in front of me without attacking...

The only time i've been attacked is when I was following a blood trail from a wounded caribou and one came up behind me. Probably smelled the blood.

I've been attacked randomly a dozen of times by packs of 3 to 6 wolves but I still don't understand how to make that happen. Most of the time, I just run to a pinned checkpoint and I hear barking and growling behind me and they are there hunting me. But everytime I try to make them attack, they flee.

Initially wolves attacked everybody at the drop of a hat. They even pursued ATVs for hundreds of meters. Too many players griped about it so now they've altered wolf behavior to such a degree that they run away more often than not. It's a more realistic portrayal of how wolves behave in the wild.

Ohhh, now I'm curious: how do they behave in the wild? They attack all the times? OMG.

Also, I noticed that what makes the difference for me is the distance: if they spot me when I'm close, they attack me. If they sense me from a distance, they prefer to run away. Interesting.

Not sure. I plopped down a tent and next thing I knew there was that growling....

I sneaked very close to a pack and they got scared at about 40 meters and I had to shoot them on the run

My theory is when they hunt they attack, if not, they run (Iberian).

I heard Grey wolves are more aggressive.

I've been tracking wolves ,then when i get close enough they do flee. however , if i keep on their tails they eventually turn around and attack.. most of the time they hunt me.

I think both brands of wolves may attack. It just doesn't seem to happen as often as it used to.
I've been killed by Iberian and Grey wolves but only before patch 1.52 came out.

I crouch walk most everywhere with always run engaged when crouching; it's slower than walking but quieter. As such, I sneak up on more animals more often, and I have found that when walking quietly the wolves will growl and fan out around me rather than spooking away. Been attacked by quite a few just traveling from point A to point B. Got a diamond wolf doing this.

This was also my theory - they preferably attack when they're surprised, i.e. when you sneak up on them an then make them notice you. When they hear you from afar, they will just flee, like in real life (except if they're hungry ;), but when you are close, you have surprised them and then they will defend themselves. Or appreciate the surprise snack.

Last time I got attacked by wolves I was stalking a roe deer. Suddenly I had five of these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on my ass. 4 shots in the Mosin, got four of them. Sadly even with a double lung shot from five meters away the are alive for quite some time (in reality, shooting ANYTHING with 7,62x54R from that distance should drop it instantly, especially in the weight range of a human) and the last one I shot killed me one second before it dropped dead itself. Glad I had a tent close.

Yeah they are very resistant but there's a trick when close... get the run when reloading perk/skill and use the bow! The bow is the game's deadliest weapon.
