Taxidermy - Whole animal vs Trophy only

Well, did search the forums, but can't locate if this has been answered anywhere else.

Is there any chance we're going to see different taxidermy costs for trophies based on what we actually want to mount from that animal?

I tend to want to taxi up cool/odd/atypical looking antlers, and never have intentions of showing the whole animal in a lodge, and yet still gotta pay full cost as if I wanted the entire animal.

Why not have the option for full body/head/antlers etc?

Granted, trophys and lodges have been a nightmare for some, but perhaps putting some work into a decent DLC package around lodges/trophies would be in order.

You mean different costs for full body, head and shoulder or antlers only? It would be nice but currently in a Spring Creek Lodge you must use the same size plaque for an antler mount as you do for a head and shoulder mount which results in antler mounts looking extremely ridiculous. There's also the requirement to use the same sized largest floor platform for a full body mount of a Whitetail or Blacktail deer as you do for a Moose (which doesn't pass the common sense test). I'd be unwilling to pay for a DLC to fix what's wrong with a trophy lodge I had to buy a DLC to get in the first place.

Yeah, given that I've gotten both the current DLCs for the lodges, and am less than thrilled with them, a rework of existing ones is a better option than making people buy a new one.

Maybe if (and its a big if I know) they decide to actually give us some decent options, they could retro it to the current owners of lodges. Unlikely at best, but with all the crap that's gone down with trophies/scores/lodges in the past few "patches", surely they must see some need to work on it.

Hell, I'd settle for being able to look at my trophy manager and see the animal in viewable preview so I remember why the hell I paid 6g (or more) for a silver elk (guessing I messed up the shot, and liked it enough to keep it for the rack).

preview pane would be good, i'd like to do just that, look at some of my numerous silvers and see why i kept them. I know a couple were messed up possible diamonds but i dunno which of the 20 blacktail the one i screwed up on is, and i don't have the will or want to look through them all in the lodges. Mostly cause the lodges are still broken and i can't get into any :P

I had a lodge I couldn't get into not long ago. It happened right about the time the game update was downloading and the Steam Update hit. It was one of my family plan accounts. It's working fine now and I don't know if it's something I did or not but here's what I did: Reinstalled the game on the parent account, ran the local file integ verification on both Steam and the game, rebooted my system, ran the file integ verification again on both Steam and the Game and logged into the game. Then I logged back out and uninstalled game from the family share account that had the problem. Rebooted the system, installed the game, verified local files, logged into the game and Ta-da...got into the trophy room.

More on the topic though...have you noticed that a head mount for a puma takes up less room than a head and neck mount of a Black buck does on a much smaller plaque? Yet, here we have to use one of the large plaques for a puma head mount. Looks really puny.

i didn't lose any animals, i just can't access any of the lodges i had made. So i went into trophy manager and removed them all from the lodges, then deleted the lodges. Now when i create a lodge, i get the statue out in front but no lodge to go into.

not holding my breath they'll fix this next week in the patch.

Totally agree on the plaque/mount size vs animal. So simple to just let us mount whatever on whatever. I mean a bison on a desktop mount might be a little ... odd looking but doesn't affect anyone but me. Trophies clearly need anchor points but aside from that, who's to say I don't want that bison sitting on my desk (LOL).

If I want my lodge with things clipping through walls or what not, then give me the option. I wouldn't do it that way, but I sure would select different size wall plaques than they currently say I have to use.

We'll see what happens after next weeks patch. For now all my trophies are sitting in the manager and so far (touch wood), nothing has vanished. How do I know? Because like many, I've pulled them all from the lodges and have them all in excel spreadsheet so I can sort them by species/rating/fur etc without that god awful huge list of uselessness that is the manager.

Yup, that all looks just fine to me too (nice bison!). Was there any reason given for taking away the ability to put things on any stand etc at the time? As it's only in a lodge, and has no bearing on the game I'm baffled as to why the restrictions....

It was possibly when multimounts were added as that would cause all sorts of funny mounts if abused it.

Maybe they had good reason as some may clip etc but as you can see the stands and smaller plaques fit the animals no problem and this was a glitch. Why cant they just adjust the plaque sizes so we have more options when it comes to mounting things. IMO all the bears look stupid on a plaque as the plaque is so big. Don't sort by animal size sort them by what actually fits the plaques.

i believe one of the Q&A threads addressed this, or maybe it was a separate thread one of the dev's commented on.

It was an exploit that wasn't intended and was fixed, to put the "why" in a nutshell.

Well, rather than patch out this particular exploit, seems that making it into an actual feature would have been a better idea. Maybe they will develop this further if the next patch actually fixes the previous patches unintended features....
