Doc #26 Layton Lake help please!
Okay, I need to kill a Whitetail within 30m for this mission. The issue I am having is there are absolutely no whitetail in the south lake area for me... I've tried all feeding/water/sleeping times listed and I have run around the lake numerous times, I don't see a single track or poop and no need zones for anything other than mallards. Any help with this mission would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, I gave up on that one for the exact same reason, just could not find any anywhere. Some of the missions are just plain painful tbh.

You might be able to call one in from outside the mission area boundary. That's what I did.

I heard there is a way to reset need/spawn zones but I am not sure how to do it or if it's even allowed. I was thinking of maybe trying that if it was a legit thing.

What side worked for you? I saw tracks outside of the mission boundaries on the west side.

West is right. I got mine at night and used a scent lure. I also stuck my way point marker at 30m from my calling position and the lure spot (a triangle set up). In the save file there's one file that has all the need zones you've found. If you delete that file then your need zones will go away on ALL maps and you'll have to discover need zones all over again on each reserve. Kind of a severe action to take.

Honestly my need zones are god awful, I wouldn't mind resetting them. Might give it a shot! Thanks so much for the help, gonna give it another go!

I have problems with the same mission. After some revisits during expected drinking (lake shore) and feeding time (hunting stands), I have the feeling that this lake cannot be more whitetail empty.

I had the same thing, no Whites in the area but kept going back, just played the game while not doing this mission, after some time, (not sure how long), found a track just outside the area that passed through it then out, followed it to a need zone that was some distance away, left mission again, played game, other missions, hunt, went back to this mission again and found more White tail tracks that i followed to another need zone in the area, staked it out, mission done, seams to be one of those drawn out missions that you have to keep going back too.

When looking at the map, i always started from the bottom right outpost, then headed towards lake, bottom right area is where i found my first White tail track and where the second need zone appeared inside the area marked around lake, just keep going back.

You'll find them in the south west part of the lake, close to the rock formations. I followed someone's advice a while back and literally the first time I went there I found a feed zone.

This is the place where I found it: https://i.imgur.com/8lUrDhc.png

I don't remember the time but it was during the day.

Same here, mine was around the south east , about the same corner area.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the help. Time to go camp it out and try again. I noticed that whitetails are everywhere in my game early morning but never at their other listed times >_> not sure why. So maybe I'll give it a shot early morning again.

I got a white-tail now at the north-west of the lake (next to the wooden path) at 8:20 am. Lured it in with the caller and it worked.

oh look.. another post.. another mission where the animal in the mission suddenly disappears from the area you are supposed to hunt. smh.. I gave up on missions long ago because of this. I love the game but the missions should not be this hard to complete. Its a stupid video game and should not take hours upon real life hours to complete these missions. Im not asking for them to be able to complete in 5 mins..they should be harder than regular hunting... but there has to be some balance here. Casual gamers arent going to put up with this and will quit the game.

Some are nice, some are really annoying, especially when linked to a very small region (lake XYZ) or weapon add-ons you have to unlock with hours of gameplay first (e.g. special arrows or sight for revolver). I also don't like many story missions of kind "go to region X -> find something somewhere in it -> press E to complete mission). I hope the developers do better in future reserves and TheHunter games.

Anyhow, I really like the allover idea of the game. Relaxing.

I finally found my whitetail in the southeast part of the mission area, took me like a week irl to find them. I had to just keep resetting the time of day until I found some tracks.
