The weapon pack stuff is a nice addition but in no way a necessity. You are not excluded from hunting any animal if you don't own them.
It gives you the "Eckers .30-06 Bolt-Action Rifle" which is relatively powerful and since it's a weapon dlc the weapon costs you nothing to "buy" ingame. Ammo will cost you though.
The Eckers is pretty handy early on, since you'll struggle to kill the larger stuff, until you can get cash + rifle points to buy more powerful rifles.
This dlc also gives you an air rifle, and a cool .22 pistol.
personally i recently went all in and pickedup all the DLC since it's on sale, i don't regret it, pretty much every dlc has something useful. The MAPS DLC are also a must obviously, since it expands your gameplay a lot.
The maps in this game are absolutely HUGE, even with an ATV it takes time to move around.
They are also gorgeous, this game is indeed quite beautiful.
Same, it looked exciting , but i saw a video with a guy testing it out, and it felt remarkably unpowerful considering it's cartridge.
Ah, if only the King Nitro Express could fit a nice scope...
I'm running the perk that gives you a bit of zoom when holding your breath with iron sights - makes using the .470 a whole lot better.
Nice tip, thanks! i'm still not very close to the .470, it's expensive! and i need more rifle points too.
In the case of Weapons that come with some MAP DLC, (like the King Nitro Express from Africa DLC, or the .300 Magnum from Yukon DLC) those you have to pay with ingame money, and they are expensive. like 75.000-90.000 cash, plus you need to unlock them with around 5800-6000 rifle points.
As an aside, the goose and duck shotguns, (Strecker and Nordin), are also FREE and immediately available when you buy respectively the goose, and duck DLC.
Also the most fun hunts are when i take the XBOW and go for 30 meter shoots on the big ones :) (pack1)
The game would also be enjoyable without a weaponpack but for me there cant be enough weapons to change around
Regarding the DLC maps. Which ones u guys prefer? Im debating between vurhonga and yukon...
Yukon got the .300 magnum, which can use a scope.
Vurhonga got the .470 nitro express which CAN'T use a scope.
looks wise i think Yukon is pretty beautiful.
But if you want variety you might prefer Vurhonga, since some of the look of Yukon can remind you of Layton Lake (one of the 2 free maps).
Vurhunga is cheaper at the moment too, so...
Heh, i can't really help you cause i really think both are great.
