Diamond animals in Cuatro Colina

So, do they even exist? I mean apart from the mission wolves and that one mouflon that might or might have not been a diamond hadn't I fudged it.
I regularly encounter herds with loads of lvl4 ibexes, lvl4 mouflons, some lvl7 wolves (none of which get even close to diamond when I shoot them), but so far I haven't seen a single boar above level 3, not a single roe above 2 (twice with possible diamond rating, but they were both just weak golds) and not a single red deer above lvl7 since I shot a lvl 8 pretty early in the map. I don't run, I have a million need zones I travel in a circle, I tried shooting the strongest animals from a herd, I tried shooting the weakest animals from a heard, nothing has helped.
I just don't find it fun at all to have a mission tied to such a random and rare occurrence if all you get is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ skin. I thought after all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in Hirschfelden and Layton with stuff like photograph two bears or shoot three foxes at this lake from a tent at night from the left side without a flashlight while blasting Kate Bush they had learned to not do this kind of ♥♥♥♥ anymore, especially since the main mission in Spain is holding your hand even more than the Africa one.

I found a level 4 Mouflon that turned out to be a diamond but I know your fustration, I almost gave up.

Actually today I shot two lvl4 mouflons, both with estimated ratings between 161-191. One was even below 160 (is that a bug? I had that several times now), the other had 168 or so. Both were of course perfect shots, so it's not on my side.

The level 4 I shot had a higher trophy rating than the other level 4 in the herd. I think it was 225 but I'm not sure, it made it diamond by 0.1 ,it doesn't get any closer than that.

Oh damn I didn't know those existed. I have actually never encountered a mouflon higher than 161-191 except the one mentioned in OP.

I was having a hard time completing the harvest a diamond animal mission for the 6.5 Rayo, managed to shoot a Diamond Beceite Ibex (Common) 199.2

Ive spent maybe 4 hours total on that map and I've pulled 2 diamond red deer and one diamond ibex out of there, so clearly youre just unlucky

I just effed up a diamond ibecite ibex.
It had a score of OVER a diamond, alas, I messed up a shot, and it gave me a gold.

OTOH, it was not a hunt, it was a massacre - I had the Eckers 30-06, and I murderized 10 animals, one after another, with reloading. Kinda feels bad man over this slaughter.

I got 3 Wolves, 2 different Ibex and 3 Hares all Diamond (non-mission), by just free-roaming. They exist, I've only played there for like 20 hours.

Listen, if you want a diamond scoring animal you have 3 choices.

And it sounds like you've already tried them.

Taking out the levels next to highest to get the higher to spawn, or trying to track down one of the ones that spawned when you started the session. Or wandering around enough to increase your chance of accidental encounter.

It's really just that simple regardless of the odds.

I'd say going for the higher levels until diamond spawns gives the best chance but you have to remain in one area to do this.

Try moving just enough to keep in one location but stepping just outside of the pink pressure indication on your map so your luring wont be reduced.

In Cuatro try the most northern lakes.

Cuatro isn't the easiest reserve to hunt in, sometimes it can take a while to spot animals, they have a really weird pattern for moving around the map.

That dude in Cuatro giving you the missions to hunt the wolves will end his quest line with a guaranteed diamond wolf. Save it for the Don Miguel diamond mission and knock both out.

For the Diamond hare. Best bet for weapon is a 22 rifle with a scope. Hunt need zones. Get there before the time, find a place and stay put. Moving around will spook hares easily. If you must move, crawl and take your time. Don't expect to sneak up on a hare if you have a backpack—even a small one. It's very hard even without one.

Best place I found for hares was the lake on the far west edge of the map in the middle. It's shaped like a lollypop with just the candy in the map boundaries. Between the nearby Outpost and the lake should be a hare need zone. There are nice rocks around the area that you can lay prone on to hunt. Don't take more than 2 or three unless you have something that lessens pressure (like a tripod.)

TIP: If you harvest a few hares, don't just time jump to the next night. If you grab a few hares, go to another spot and hunt till you get all the hunting pressure off the hare zone, then go back that night. I've been told that if you go out to the menu and back into the game after you get the hunting pressure off it will respawn the ones you shot for a better chance at a diamond when you jump time to night. Cannot personally confirm, but it doesn't hurt.
