Besides, it's a casual hunting game, built for fun. It's not some attempt at being a life educator, if were then I'd suggest you take your crusude to CoD/Rust/Ark, heck even Monopoly.
You could always try THC, Doc will remind you of your obligations.
Even in most basic game casual or otherwise they have rules. Infact some enjoy the challenge. Thus far what exactly is point or actual idea in this game, even casual hunting (real world) has rules.
I dont think it unfair to ask general base what if any rules should be ?
It's also no different to RL. Unless you got a warden following you around, what conscious decisions do you make to ensure clean kill, proper harvest and following up on wounded?
That's right. Your own code of conduct. Practise the same here. How hard is it?
If you dont harvest animals you dont get the "harvest in row bonus".
If you dont take the right weapon/ammo you dont get the "integrity bonus"
If you dont place the shot correct and the animals takes a while until it dies you dont get the "efficienty bonus"
If they start adding rules, then it gets pretty silly. In some places the herds are so big that you can legally shoot does. In others you can shoot one animal per season. Does that sound fun?
As for tracking what you wound... that might work if the game wasn't so insanely buggy. I've had numerous animals simply heal. Their blood tracks dissapeared and it only showed normal tracks. Despite a perfect lung shot. Hit detection among other factors is far too wonky.
I like what you are saying, but I don't think you realize what you are saying.
But it's a sandbox game. You can make your own rules! Don't want to hunt after dusk? Don't do it. Do you want to always track down and kill every animal? Make that one of your goals.
IMO that's better than having the game go "I'm afraid I can't let you do that Dave" for seemingly arbitrary reasons (depending on where in the world you live).
Just imagine that you are contracted by the Federal Government (with an "unlimited licence"), to go reduce animal populations. It's your job...now go hunt all critters before they have an environmental impacts to the land and water. :)
