COTW does NOT have (yet)
- dogs
- as many weapons, no crossbows, no traditional bows like longbows
- bird-hunting
- as many reserves as Classic (currently 2)
- some more, gonna be added by others i guess
- TruRack-System (one of the most negative point in my opinion)
- ....oh yes, what you wear does not care, even a ghilliesuit does not make you less visible for animals.
but it DOES have
- awesome graphics
- no need for licenses for hunting specific animals
- ATV (ok, it´s a DLC and costs about 3€)
I don´t regret the 30€ i paid for the game, more content will come (as DLC, perhaps some smaller additions for free).
It feels a little more arcade than classic.
And yes, you can hunt with bows in Call of the wild, but currently just with modern bows.
Stay away from COTW, it's broke and may never be fixed properly...
Forgot to add, the greatest difference is the hunting pressure you can apply so you can't really farm a spot with unlimited like we could in THC. It goes away when you go away. Works pretty good.
@Ruthless - Yes, it was broken horribly at the beginning, works way better now minus the odd AI, anim' glitch. Try playing it.
COTW has a gameplay for console (xbox or PS4). It's better to play it with a xbox controller. The possibility of movements is bigger with a controller and much more interesting for this game. It's also perfectly comfortable. The hunting gameplay is not realist. lot of animals and you can kill an animal in the hurtful in the ear. etc... it is very easy, no challenge.
But the graphism engine is very good. The landscapes are very beautiful. The grass is lying in the passage of animals. Very good atmosphere, it is a real simulator of hike.
CLASSIC :
Classic has a much more realistic gameplay. It is necessary to choose its equipment to disguise (it has no importance of COTW). The shooting must be more precise, otherwise we spend hours to look for the wounded animal. But it is less beautiful, maps are old. The engine is deprecated. And everything buys for to play : equipment, and license which it is necessary to renew regularly. Carefull : TheHunter:Classic is not a free to play !!!! I play the classic only with one type of weapon : the bow and i spend more 100 $ for to play (tent, dog, clothes and equipment, weapon, hunting licences)
I would not say it is easier, to be honest. Classic can be VERY easy once you learn it.
Pay-2P-Play(-Properly) is what you find in both games. In some sense, COTW is even worse than Classic in this respect. In COTW you have to pay 30 bucks upfront for the starter package and then every bit of new gameplay is added via paid DLC. In Classic you did not have to pay the $30 upfront. I would have been perfectly happy in COTW with only Hirschfelden map, a 7mm rifle, a 243 rfile and a bow. It is probably worth $10-15. That would have been the deal in Classic. Yet, in COTW I have to pay §30 to get things like scents, shotguns, handgungs that I never use. And then, as mentioned the Classic-like stack of paid DLC is on top of it. Can you imagine other games selling every bit of gameplay like ATVs and such as paid DLC, not just cosmetics? Like GTA5 would be worth tens of thousands of dollars if they sold everything in pieces.
So yes, that's the differences I see.
Haha, I find this comment incredibly funny.
Example.
Call of the wild tent dlc £3.99.
For that you get 5 tents and 2 or 3 groundblinds. Once paid for extra tents and blinds are available at the in game store for in game cash.
Classic hunter you pay about 500 em$, that's $5 of real money, for every tent you buy.
COTW, you pay $30 for the game, the hunter is free, BUT, you have to pay for licences on classic which, if you buy a pack, can cost you the same amount, for just a year!
Classic, any weapon you want costs you real money, all weapons in call of the wild are bought for in game cash!
You do pay for dlc in COTW, but it is extremely good value dlc, whereas you pay for EVERYTHING on classic!
So, summing up, to say this is more of a cash grab than the hunter is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!
Haha. Could not say it better with a brass band.
With THC you are supposed to pay 3$ a month for membership plus another 10 or so whenever they release a new gun or item, every 3-6 months. Though they cost only 600-700 ems most people get 1000 and spent the rest for some rubbish like the 20th set of clothes.
With COTW they release a DLC every four weeks that costs "only" 5$. The total s already almost 40$, for a game that does not even produce acceptable image quality on my Nvidia 1070 card, everything shimmers like a mofo, I'd rather pay for a "does not flicker" DLC that for a quad.
Anyway, the biggest difference for me is the graphics. It just looks amazing.
i actualy bought call of the wild because i would have to pay 15$ for a membership anyway. Its always the same, i subscribe to 3 month ♥♥♥, play it some days and then i want to play it again in like 4-5 months and i would need to pay again 15$.
So im kinda happy that i only need to pay once for call of the wild and thats it. I can play it anytime i want. I also bought the DLC bundle. I realy like that ATV....vvrooooMMMMMMMMM :D
I did exactly the same, ended up paying both because I like classic way more :)
