any one who would get up set about hunting on a sim prog , well may need a reality check i recon !! just my thinking !
It was added before 1st of april so I don't think so
Where do y'all draw the line then since it's 'just a game'? Should they add bigfoot and unicorns for us to hunt? Because I don't have the means to hunt a rhino, bigfoot, or dinosaur in real life, the idea of hunting one in a hunting game isn't as appealing to me. It's a simple concept. I'd be willing to bet most of you love Layton Lake because we're Canadians or Americans and the Layton animals are familiar to us. If rhino were free roaming in my state of Kentucky and it was legal to hunt them, they would hit more at home for me and I'd be more excited to hunt them in CotW.
Anyway, that's just my take on the subject. Nobody said 'don't add rhinos because it's immoral and wrong'. I also want to make it clear that I'm not opposed to them adding rhinos if they desire to do so. I don't really care, but again it's not about whether or not video games encourage bad behavior. Sometimes people like certain game or movie genres for their realism and accuracy. I'm not one to want anything and everything added just because it's a video game. I like it feeling realistic.
I think there could be a neat dynamic where shooting a protected animal illegally would come with a penalty (like a hefty fine or something), or there could also be a cheaper pre-purchasable permit for a sanctioned hunt), but...you'd always still be able to get a harvest screen regardless of the legality, mount the animal in the lodge, receive the weapon-perk/skill-leveling benefits, and conquer more achievements (like "Infamous Scumbag Poacher" or "Master of Hunting Ethics").
It seems a bit of a waste in this open, breathing world not to have the ethical choices in front of us like real hunters do. I think any animal at all that the developers decide to put in that indeed fits with the respective geographical locations would always be a good thing. It creates a more immersive experience and a more accurate simulator, none of which ever have to have that feel of Cabella's arcade-y-ness. And further, it can absolutely still preserve that respect of ethical sportsmanship that this game exudes.
