Rhinos are coming?
Ok I know I may be overthinking it... But the devs have placed a lot of content clues in the game before, and now they added a golden figurine of a rhino in the new trophy lodge.

What do you guys think?

I hope not. The Vurhonga Savanna is exotic as it is in my opinion.

I would love to hunt big game like this!

Perhaps they will add a second African map due to the high amount of huntable african animals

I'd replace them with the Cape Buffalo if it were up to me. Maybe they just feel too foreign to me, but I don't enjoy Cape/Water hunts in this game at all. I'll stick to Bison in Hirsch to get my large game fix.

I think that rhinos may be pushing it given the state of rhinos right now. Besides the lion and puma, there isn't an animal in the game that's all that under threat of extinction...It'd be in poor taste.

I dont see any connection between virtually shooting at a collection of pixelated targets wrapped around a set of hit boxes, and the survival rates of endangered Rhinos.
Anyone who believes the one effects the other in any way is suffering from a chronic inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

yes, but itsnt that probably one of the reasons ppl play games?

Possibly.

But one would hope that they play games with the full knowledge that what they are doing is only a fantasy.
And one would also hope they fully understand that many of the things they can do in that fantasy are often unacceptable in reality ... and should never be exercised in reality.

Otherwise we are all in big trouble.

Sure, but I'd argue it depends on the genre to an extent. Obviously we should all separate reality from fantasy, but wouldn't you say CotW is along the lines of a simulator to a degree? You can't fault someone for wanting to hunt at least somewhat along the lines of a real hunt. Can't fault someone for taking a more tactical, realistic approach in a MilitarySim shooter. Probably couldn't fault someone who likes racing games or NASCAR to want to race cleanly in multiplayer instead of turning it into a demo derby.

Think you get my point, those are some examples that came to mind. I wouldn't really want to hunt something in this game that's not within the realm of possibility to hunt in real life, but maybe that's just me and my taste. We all play for different reasons. I think zebras could be a nice addition to Africa, if anything. As far as I know, they're nowhere near as protected. Also some food for thought: All of Warden's dialogue and mission plot in Africa indicates the rhinos were poached entirely out of the reserve. Adding them could be kinda inconsistent with the Savanna story arc if they didn't change it a bit.

it`s just a game. i would never shoot at some rhinos in real life, but in this game, hell yea, they would be fun. i hope for the missing parts of the big five.
and since you play as a park ranger, kind of, it fits perfect if they give us some tranquilizer guns, and chip them, if you don`t want to "kill" them. so you can play the game like you want. you dont have to kill them.

^ Yeah, wouldn't mind that. People can play how they want. Personally I'd prefer zebras though.

Folkens, there are indeed a load of people out there who play games and at some point loose the ability to separate this from reality. Living in Norway, we have a very prominent example of them enjailed for the rest of his live, after having killed 80 kids at gunpoint, some years ago.

But hey. Wouldn't this make for a great PVP scenario for COTW.
Rhino poachers verses park rangers.
Then people could start another Human killing fantasy game.
Wonder how many concerned activist groups would find that in Bad Taste.

I don't see why they wouldn't add them.

The point of a video game, especially one like this, is living in a world you can't otherwise live in.

Why can't we hunt in a world where poachers have been stopped, and animal populations are thriving thanks to responsible hunting, and conservation?

Rhinos are abundant, elephants are everywhere, etc.

This game could be a hunting game in a world we want to live in, rather than a reflection of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hunting world we have in real life.
