Is foggy weather more common now?
I've been playing this again for a few days after a year+ break, and i can't remember the game being this foggy most of the time.

be sure the fog volume is turned off in the game settings " graphics "
It don't go away completely... but at least it will be less.
Sometimes when the Dev's do a DLC release or update... the settings are changed.
Including the keypad... I set the whistle to be / and it turned back into the x key.
Of course I wasn't notified of this change occurring... until I bumped the x key accidentally.
: rollseyes :
And of course that scared every animal I was attempting to shoot.

I have bought a new GPU since then and running graphics at nearly max now, so volumetric fog is probably the reason.

K

but fog can be an issue at night with your headlamp on.
It helps to get up higher.
The tripods / Tree Stands improve sight some.
But on the ground, at night... I have to turn off the headlamp to see anything : (

Maybe that new night vision DLC (green light) makes it better ? dunno (not buying that)
Because it's a lousy night vision that I've seen.

Wasn't interested in night vision to begin with I literally just bought it for the bow scope lol. I've never even tried out the night vision stuff, even though I hunt at night a third of the time.... never was needed really, nights are bright in cotw

No, it does make it worse in foggy weather....

I said this when the DLC was announced.... that they should have done infrared instead of old fashioned night vision. That was the only way it was going to be useful in this game because of the fantastic fog effects the game has.
Don’t discount the night vision’s ability to show tracks and need zones further out than regular vision and binoculars. Makes finding animals and need zones almost easier than during the day when u often roll by them as they are out of view.

Plus, the night vision scope makes longer distance shots achievable without having to identify a target and quick switch and shoot the target.

I started using them both to help with some night time missions and now carry them and regularly hunt at night.
