How to use lures
New to the game and I am trying to use lures and blinds to do some duck hunting. I setup by a body of water, setup my duck lures (fake ducks), setup blind close by with line of sight and then use the duck sound lure. Issue is nothing seems to happen at all, am I doing something wrong? No ducks ever seem to appear

first you need to find a need spot where the are then setup the gear

If you have seen ducks on the lake, then they will most likely come.

First, scout around the lake to look for floating feathers. They will allow you to mark a need zone.

Second, setup your decoys no less than 35-50yds from your blind. If you have a tripod, use it; ground blinds will cause hunting pressure to destroy your need zone quickly. You need an elevated perch so you can harvest a lot of ducks.

Lastly, that caller won't do much until you hear them flying overhead. Then start blowing it. If you place a tent close to your stand, you can fast travel in a few times a day and find ducks there...run to your stand and pop a few as they are flying away.

If no ducks come there after 2-3 days, change locations.

Depends on how realistic you want your hunt to be. I stopped carrying all that gear when I realized the easiest way to bag them is just keep an eye on the lakes as you walk. When you spot some ducks it's pretty easy to creep within 100m or so and pick off the best ones with the .22LR. No need to carry around all that heavy gear. You don't even need the caller. I've bagged 3 diamond ducks this way.

This, far more effective then messing with blinds and shotguns, also if you shoot at them beyond 150 meters with .22 rifle they dont really get spooked by the gunshot because the sound of .22 is quite light so as long you dont fire rapidly at ducks close to each other you can often pick up bunch of them from the same flock before they spook and fly away.

Goose is whole another story, this is best guide how to bag some goose and works exceptionally well for me, especially with Cacciatore:
