White blinking hexagon on lower left corner of screen
Does the blinking white hexagon on the lower left of the screen mean anything or serve any purpose? It seems to me it's just indicating its loading scenery or something like that. Just want to be sure I'm not missing some important information (since there isn't an ounce of documentation with this game)

didn't search before posting did you? there's a big thread on it. It's the autosave indicator.

I guess I missed that "big thread" too. To be fair, search doesn't seem to find it when searching for "autosave" or "octogon".

That's because it's a hexagon.

Like Hidden Gunman said it's a hexagon.

17 results for hexagon,

12 for autosave......

The flashing light indicates change.
Rest assured that change is the animals coming into the area.

No animals or less of them = less flashing.
Huge herds will cause the flash repeatedly. And often.

The environment does not change nor need saving, as it remains constant.

It used to be just a flashing light... now it's hexagonal.
Doesn't really matter what form it takes.

Ignore reality all one likes... not my concern.

I've been playing this game long enough to know.
Regardless of what others say or think they might know.

I have used this as a tool to realize when animals are coming into the area.
otherwise, one can just look at it and pretend it's an auto game save of some sorts.

Tho' generally the game is not saved until one leaves it = signs out.
That's how one retains the items or game coin they've earned.

If that's not saving the game... then you have issues.

Thanks for this explanation. It doe seem this might be usable as an indicator f activity. Although I noticed it saves every time I examine a trail or blood spot. But if you aren't doing anything that should be persisted, and you see thins indicator, it probably does mean there is some kind of animal activity.

I did search but apparently don't have the search "prowess" as you. I searched for blinking white light. Had I found the answer I wouldn't have asked the question. Sheeze man, don't become the forum police.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Much better answer than the first response.

May I ask why this object seems to upset so many?
Zara_Spook Jan 23, 2020 @ 6:13am
It ruins the immersion. For me it is a reminder that you can lose all your progress. BUT you play what the game gives you. So I use cbrrmans advice and look for new animals and changes ect. That being said we dont need to know the game is working it should just work. I would rather just be confident that my progress has been saved correctly and No lighting storm will change that. (Ive lost progress twice over the years both times due to flickering power outage)

i always laugh at this. immersion in a video game. most if not all, live games like this have an auto save feature and an autosave indicator that flashes on the screen. Even a full screen message saying that symbol is autosave, don't restart your pc or kill the game when it's showing, or something along those lines.

kinda funny i think we don't see threads complaining about it in those game forums. Maybe EW needs to put in a disclaimer page like that.

+1 to all that.

It's straight up distracting and annoying to have it constantly popping up and stealing your attention, and doesn't need to be there. Further, this WASN'T in the game when it first shipped (and for a long time after), but was stealth-added in a later update.

It's lame, and the 6 people I regularly play this game with, all agree, and wish it would go (or was at least optional).

It's been there since I've owned the game (early '17 near release date)
But it definitely wasn't as obvious to the nekid eye.
As it was originally just a tiny light - glow and not hexagonal in form.
But even now... I can easily disregard it... if I choose.
Heck the flashing tracks are more annoying and can't be altered from their flashing.
Tho' I'll suppose one can simply turn them off altogether.

Probably wouldn't hurt if the dev's let the user control this hex light as well.
Off / On or at least reduce the light emitted.

I also find it very annoying. It lights up the whole bottom left corner of my screen. It's extremely annoying at night. Just constantly flashing. It really does need to be removed
