Population of "Diamonds"
I play COTW for a while, so I am, after losing my first profile on level 54, for a long time level 60.

Now I see many "diamonds" in facebook and wherever they were posted. I had never ever seen/spotted an animal that gains a "diamond". So I wondered, if there are some. And how many...

I've "scanned" most of Yukon and Fernando, whole Vurhonga and Hirschfelden. Many many "gold" trophies, even more silver and bronze - but zero "diamonds". In Fernando I've spotted a herd of buffs, maybe 20 animals, with 2 level 8 bulls and a bunch of silver and bronze. But no level 9... Same in Hirschfelden with bisons and red deer.

So - how many diamonds are hidden in the maps? I guess, there's a kind of algoryhtm for the populations and their "levels". Anybody an idea???

They farm diamonds, because its really rare to stumble upon one, they're too alert.

To farm diamons find need zones, load a mp map, check the need zones at need time, if no diamond potential close the map and start it all again.

Even then it's gonna take you a long time to find one, it requires a lot of patience and persistence, but you'll eventually get one.

In this account Ive seen 3 confirmed diamonds: 2 moose and 1 hare, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the shot on both moose with the 7mm because aat the time I only had the 7mm and 243, couldnt hit the heart and got only lung shots past 150m. I knew I should try to get closer and go with the bow, but I didnt wanna spend hours tracking moose without a caller. I dont farm them tho, its way too boring and gamey.

Sorry your search came up empty but if you constantly searched for a max level animal you might have been looking right at a diamond and not realized it.

Black Bucks, Lesser Kudu, Wildebeast and Gemsbok (just to name a few) all have max levels of 5-Medium yet sometimes a level 4 animal of those species may turn out to be a diamond instead of gold. Then again, not every max level animal will be a diamond (Gemsbok, Red Stags, Black bears, Puma, White and Black tail deer and Moose are prone to fall short in that regard). Finding tracks in the max weight range of a species is an indicator that an animal of diamond potential might have been in the area. If it's not in the max weight range, it probably is not going to be one.

The devs tell us that at any given time there may be only a handful of diamonds on a map at the same time. That doesn't mean there will always be at least one on the map for every species.

I don't look for them, I have 56 so far and all have been killed at random from my hunts without looking for them.
It will surprise you but I prefer to hunt Albinos than Diamonds, for me an Albino is more valuable than a Diamond.
The beauty of an Albino animal is priceless.

The maps are each configured to have a minimum of 1 diamond and a maximum of 5 diamonds, depending on how things have spawned.

I have about 500 hours in the game and only have 9 diamonds. They are quite rare, but it's really rewarding when you bag a diamond.

Yep, this last week I've had two pumas, identical in everything except that one was over 950, and one was under 950...and the 'under' was the hardest work. The actual diamond I near stumbled on...it was snoozing under a bush gawking at some deer and I hadn't seen it till I unintentionally scoped it. The other one I tracked for ages and several k's.
find all the need zones , hotspots. the times animals are at those zones need zones then visit them quickly. search go to next area. some people do mp because they will have different animals. to what they will have. so visit same area different persons game will yield maybe a different animal. which could be a diamond. dont limit yourself to one species. time played makes a big difference and game knowledge.

Just like Hunter classic, people just keep reloading the game and time spamming to get what they want. If you want to play the game like a hunter, just hunt and enjoy what you find. Don't use the internet to see the meta players (not hunters) who basically ruin every game they play by farming it to death using meta tactics.

I wouldnt say they ruin the game. After all its just a game, and part of being a top player in any game is to learn how to exploit the code. Personally I dont do it because its boring and I enjoy walking around and hunting what the game presents to me.
