Zeroing perk
How do you use it? I don't mean the idea or concept behind it.

In a video, I saw the perk icon in the HUD, along with a distance number underneath it. I don't have that. Do I need a special scope?

I've tried searching everywhere and cant find anything on it.

Mine is maxed out with 2/2 and is green

Once you buy this perk, you need to activate it in the same menu

The green skills need to be activated. Can only have one active at a time.

" f " on a keyboard

Oooooooh!

That was not obvious to me - Had already tried with the F key and it didn't do anything, but now I know it's because the perk hadn't been activated. Now I can set the distances.

Thanks!!

Already put to to good use. Found (killed) 6 gemsbok and lone buffalo at 350ishmeters distance.

At first, I had it set to 150 and I was hitting less than expected. Then set it to 300. When I harvested, I could see most of the early shots hit low and barely did anything.

Personal i think the perk is wasted. The game already has what i consider a poor rendering distance, and bullet drop of is pretty limited. A good exmaple is I was playing with a friend and we found a herd of elk at a lake. Dropped half the herd with 20ga slugs at 300ms with iron sights lol. Just put the hair on them maybe alittle higher and it's a laser beam. The rifles are pretty much the same except the .22.

If you use it, use it all of the time.
It is not my favourite. I tried it sometimes. You have to get used to it. And after using it a while and going back, you miss almost everything at the first few hunts.

In all honesty, I was a bit underwhelmed, when I saw how little difference there was.(approx. 0.5m).

i have never bothered with this perk, seems to have no value to me compared to other perks that are availible. if i miss a shot, its not due to not being zeroed in, its because i was sloppy.
if i am taking a very long shot, i just raise my target zone a touch highter to allow for any drop.

the zeroing perk works very well IMO... unless one forgets to set it properly.
and that often results with a miss - fubar shot placement. : (

Worth having... if you can remember. Lol

I've seen a lot of people vouching for this skill... I honestly can't make heads or tails of it, or understand what it does exactly. Does it give a flat trajectory over a specific distance or something?

Changing the zero to 100, 200, 300 means that your bullet will impact your point of aim at 100,200, or 300. This means if your target is at 300 and you change your zero to 300 you will not have to hold over the target, the bullet will actually hit where you aim.

Slightly off topic here, but in real life, does weapons manufacturer specify what are the optimal firing range per weapon?

Like the range where of a bullet start to drop (where you aim and shoot starts to be out of sync so to speak) and maybe a maximum range?

Feel like it would be a good thing to put in the weapon descriptions in COTW.

To me, it is significantly less confusing to use standard zeroing and simply adjust for distance by aiming higher or lower. For rifles and pistols, you don't even need to worry about low range
