The answer to the age old question
Can females be diamonds. If the it's a female Gemsbok it certainly can. Mine had a TR of 355. Best TR I've gotten off a male is 317.

True but with only 17% quick kill bonus it is missing 95 points. Not sure if 100% quick kill would have taken it to diamond but it would certainly have been close.

@Reallyoldguy: Still a verry nice Gemsbok!

Never saw female Diamonds on other Reserves...
Can't say about the African Reserve and the Gemsbok species as I don't play, nor own that.
But I'll doubt they get large enough to warrant a Diamond.

I've always thought a Diamond needed to be a Trophy animal.
And that generally pertains to Bulls and Bucks last I knew.

But I'll suppose one can net a larger female... tho' generally they're not rated as a trophy animal.

Do the math. 855 pts and only a 17% quick kill bonus means he lost over 100pts. This is a "should have been a diamond". Still, it's unusal i this game for a female animal to be a potential diamond.

I would not call it a should have been diamond. It was diamond potential. Then all the other stuff comes in. Mind you, I would have thought that a 7mm Magnum would get double lung penetration on a Gemsbok at 184 meters. I could be wrong though they are pretty large animals.

It seems Gemsbok (at least IRL) are scored by the diameter at the base and overall length.

From doing some research, it looks like the scores of Female and male could be very similar.

Wiki says:

"In males horns tend to be thicker with larger bases. Females have slightly longer, thinner horns."

So I guess if we are indeed using these same scoring calculations and males have thicker but shorter horns than females that it could be possible that the scores of both can reach these higher scores?

NOTE: This is just my stab at why the females are scoring so high and not in any way a confirmation that this is exactly what is happening.

Females can be diamonds. its been confirmed for one species thus far Scrub Hare, and with that picture of the Gemsbok you lost 138 points for the missing 83%, taking that Gemsbok to 855 + 138 = wopping 993 Diamond.....too bad man :S
