Side by side achivement is a joke?

Do you need to kill the two coyotes with one shot at the same time or one by one of the same pack?, because i already killed like an entire pack and the achivement didnt pop out.
I did had the steam cloud disabled, maybe thats why it didnt give me the achivement or am i doing it wrong?

i'd believe it, some of the achievements are pretty insane...like this one:

Peppe's Challenge
Harvest 5 animals from the same herd with a single shot to the heart using a bow in Medved-Taiga National Park

I think it's good to have some achievements that can only be completed in the rarest of circumstances. Don't want them ALL to be things that just anyone can do.

I found that the hardest part is getting animals from the same herd, lol. Twice now I've thought I got it and it seems one of the animals was not from the same herd, doh! :D

It is not really hard, just find a pack of coyote, use caller and watch for two coyote come close to each other, than shoot them using shotgun so both are hit.

As of Peppe's Challenge, it is not a biggie as long as you are comfortable with a bow. Get anthler rattler and find a herd of reindeers, they usually have about 7 heads so there is a room for error. They are large and females come close enough for reliable heart hit. Shoot males first because they can run and pull females away. Just be patient

the issue isn't hitting them, it's getting the game to count them as the same herd -.- i swear i hit two that had been side by side, tracking the second after killing the first, without it registering one of them

I got this achievement on the first herd of reindeers I found when I went to get this achievement, so I really cannot confirm such problem but I surely won't deny it is not possible since animals roam around and some herds can come close enough to be attracted by caller at the same time

If you're up for even bigger challenge, try boars instead. Much harder target, but they are scarse so rarely mix if ever

No, that shouldn't matter. I've used slugs and it worked for me. Dunno what to tell you then. :(

I finished Pepe's challenge the other day. I laid down on the ice and used the antler rattler. I got 8 heart shots (and a few near misses). When I got up to pick up all of the animals, the achievement didn't trigger until I picked up the 7th or 8th heart-shot reindeer. I guess a few were from another herd!

I'd like to know the trick for this one too. I've been shooting coyotes like crazy with the shotgun in very close proximity to each other and still haven't unlocked the achievement. I guess none of them were from the same pack...

This is not a mission. This thread is specifically about the "Side By Side" achievement, not a mission.

Except you do NOT HAVE TO HIT THEM BOTH WITH 1 SHOT. I can't believe that myth continues to hang around. This achievement has nothing to do with hitting 2 animals with 1 shot. The text of the achievement is clear:
"Harvest two coyotes from the same pack with a shotgun."

And, yes, you have to use a shotgun. I used buckshot within 35 meters; it chews up coyotes well enough and little chance of missing.

Further words of advice:
Make sure you harvest both coyotes during the same gaming session. If you leave the game after harvesting the 1st coyote and take the 2nd coyote during another gaming session, even when they are from the same pack, the achievement will not trigger.

And make sure to keep the wind in your favor. Coyotes can smell you even if you use scent eliminator when they get within about 35 meters of you.
