Whitlock Model 86 or Coachmate Lever.45-70
I really like this type of lever action weapons like those of the old west.
I'm raising the rifle points and I wanted to know which of these 2 is better (Whitlock Model 86 or Coachmate Lever.45-70)
What opinion do you have or what do you recommend me to buy?

Niether, they are short range (effective ammo range 82 yd.) "bush" guns, with limited/poor scope options.
Try the 270, 7 mm, or 338.

The 45-70 drops elk like a sack of rocks, if you like close up shots, I don't use the scope

I like the Coachmate for closer range.
Did fairly well when in range. 0 - 200 yds.

.270 or .338 for longer distance shots. 200 - 400 yds.
Polymer tipped ammo if it's available.

What I didn't like was the side mounted scope...
Even with having the side mount... the scope needs be more modern.
Scope visability in low light rather blows IMO.
Old skool tech I think.

IRL... I've newer mounted scopes mounted to my older rifles.
Nostalgia isn't cutting it for me.

First, thank you for giving your opinion.
In aesthetic matters I like whitlock model 86.
But I do not clarify anything with the calibers of each one (being different) and in what circumstances to use one or the other.

model 86 do the job of 2 gun (243 and 270) less expansive ammo, 45.70 have the same thing (270 et 7mm) but this one is less accurate (270 and 45.70 have the same accuracy but his bullet drop of sooner than 270) for long shot. For all categry1 and 2 i prefer model 86 its more funny and when you are in hudge bright area his scope is really useful (like on taiga) and you have the accuracy of 243 with this one

The .45-70 is better, overall. While it loses integrity on smaller animals, it still covers all the others and is able to kill them just fine, with good shoot placement.
I am confused as to why people call it a short range rifle and such as I routinely shot animals out to 350 m or so with it. Even if it loses accuracy at range in real life, that doesn't seem to be the case in the game. The main limiting factors seem to be the too dark sight picture of the scope and its “old school” reticle.
Anyway, in the end both rifles are great and can be used effectively. I am sure you'll have fun with both.

.45-70 is a decent close range rifle. It'll drop anything on Layton with a well placed first shot...and as Armus says above, range doesn't seem to lower its' lethality. I've one shot moose and bear at close to 200m with it.

It's my 'go to' rifle for most things, but I don't like shooting at over 100m so range really isn't a factor with me.

Thanks for the feedback.
I have been looking at the wiki and I have made it clear that the Whitlock Model 86 is capable of achieving integrity in smaller pieces than the Coachmate.
What does this mean?
Can I consider the Whitlock as more all-terrain / leveled?

Integrity determines whether the animals was shot with the appropriate calibre or not. If it was, and was killed with the maximum allowed rounds, usually one, then you get 100% integrity. If you shoot the animal with a too big calibre, or too many times, you will lose integrity, getting 0% integrity and therefore losing points in your harvest score.
At the moment there are no penalties in shooting a big animal with a small calibre many times, but it seems this will change. So you can shoot a buffalo with twenty .22 LR rounds and suffer no integrity penalty. So the Model 86 (.30-30 calibre), being of lower calibre than the .45-70 can shoot a blacktail with 100%, while shooting a blacktail with the .45-70 will result in getting 0% integrity.

Check this table to learn which calibre gives 100% integrity for which animal:
