Layton map has black bear. They are located in balmount and surrounding area and Calburn. Best time to hunt them is early morning till around 12 then after 4 pm through the night. There is a distressed fawn call which works sometimes. Just listen for their bark and crouch down following it. One tip, when you hear the sharp bark it usually means they are standing up. Try to sight them at that time. Always stop and look in the direction of the call as they stop and stand up looking for you. I primarily hunt bear in this game and love it. Good luck

There are no appeals for bears as well as for bison, you have to hunt them on sight and as GALVINJ says, you have to look for him when he grows his big sigh.
Layton Lake for black bears and Medved Taiga for brown bears (which are easier to spot).
yeah as others have said both Layton Lake (Pacific Northwest) and Medved Taiga (Siberia) both have bears and you just need the DISTRESSED FAWN call from the store. If you are new to the game it's gonna be awhile before you can unlock the caller but does not mean you can't shoot a bear if you see one just go for it if you see. Once you get the caller calling them in is easier and means more chances!

Mount Kraken, roonachee, willipeg, high lakes swamps are my go to places for bears, in these places i have called in up to 5 at a time and wack em with a bow..these are my places that never let me down..

You can also use the jackrabbit caller, it has a smaller chance to attracting a bear than the distressed fawn, but still better than nothing. This worked quite well for me when i was lower level.

On the Layton reserve they are often around the southern/central lakes. You can find them around the treelines, although it is safer to spot them when they are out in the marsh, and you can either take them when they are feeding, from the back, or when they stand up to look around...they will attack in many cases if they see you, and tracking a wounded one through bush or scrub is a hassle, particularly if you don't have a weapon with iron sights or such. Best to aim at where the neck meets the chest or back, that's pretty much a guaranteed put down. Stalking for them at night through swamp is great fun :steamfacepalm:
