Ok first off you dont have to hit their brain to kill them, the shock and trauma is so large it will normally drop them. Ok now tell me what animals skull is so "strong" that it can stop a well placed shot to the head by a .243. Elephants and hippos maaaybe?? I think most hunters would only shoot game in the head within 50 yards where the killzone is an easy 5 inches. Also never heard of someone saying not to shoot an animal in the head because they have small brains lmao
Hunting is serious stuff, learn and respect it and mostly have fun with your dad in the woods
Try hunting Moose in real life with only head shots and tell me how that goes for you. Or even Elk, for that matter.
And no.... trauma alone won't kill them (quickly, at least) unless it's meaningful (punctures the brain or an artery). They might drop for a second, but they generally won't be even knocked unconscious unless your head shot did something quickly fatal. And they aren't going to be "scared to death" either. So in most cases a head shot on a medium or large sized animal will result in either a very slow death, or very little effect. Hogs or dogs? Then yes. Bigger animals not so much.
