What is the purpose of “New Game”?
Aside from redoing the missions, why would anyone ever choose “New Game”? We can’t have multiple saves, and our progress doesn’t carry over either. We can change our character’s appearance within the menus, we can reset our perks and skills within the menus. The missions ain’t all that engaging either, and the progression is so slow. What is the “New Game” for and why would anyone do this? Am I missing something?

It would be nice to have a second save slot/playthrough with its own progression.

It is to start a new game, from scratch. I started one recently, so I could redo Layton and Hirsch and archive my profile before going back to taiga with broken achievements. I actually found it fun to replay the game as experienced hunter.

Nice idea remove “new game” from menu

Some people enjoy starting over and replaying from scratch.

Your probably right. I’ve just seen/heard/read more of how this menu option caused more harm then good lol. There was a discussion in the COTW Facebook group where players accidentally lost all their progress due to their kids, or other people attempting to start their own playthrough cause the original save file to be overwritten. Some have accident clicked on “New Game” unintentionally too.

I reached level 45 and after that I was not playing for several months.

When I returned to the game I started a new game from 0 and now I am level 60.

I think it would be nice to start the missions again and start a NG + but for example with 2XP and 2x $ only for players who have already completed all the missions and are level 60. It would be a new challenge but not as slow as the first time.

With current level cap, I would actually support separate hunter progress for each reserve. Most probably not going to happen but anyway...

the only problem i have with the new game is when you go into the starting screen, it is highlighting by default, on the New Game and not Continue, i have seen so many posts in here where people click on that by mistake and see the are you sure pop up and just instinctifly hit yes and then the OMG thing hits them and they come in here to ask, tell me this isnt true, how can i go back and its sad, we have to say so sorry, nothing can be done.
Sure would be nice if COTW defaulted on the Continue and only leave it on the New Game the first time you play. that simple move would prevent allot of hunting accidents.

Yeah, they should remove 'New Game' and make 'Reset Progress' in game settings instead

Devs did state that they are looking at ways to increase the level cap past 60, so reaching the current cap might not be the max level soon.

That doesn't make any sense. In real life when you go a new hunting reserve do you lose all your knowledge and skill from the previous hunts?

Doesn't it tell you when you click on new game that this will delete all your progress? I though it did, I have restarted several times, its the best part of the game. Once you "power up" so to speak it just gets a little boring being so easy.

well, ppl are not so smart , so they make silly mistakes, and they always blame the other party
for their own mistakes..fact.

Theres no need to make a new game, you can replay the missions by deleting the mission progress file in your document folder, equally you can reset hunting stats (shots fired etc) by deleting the statistics file

... purpose of this is you dont lose your skillpoints. Technically this is a way to farm exp points via the missions.
