i agree that the game has some serious and annoying problems, but i didnt have a problem with getting close, or not dying animals. (did you use the right weapon / ammo and are you sure, you didnt mess up the shot ?)
whenever i mess up a shot, i just stay where i am and wait for the animal to calm down and call it back in. that way i dont have to keep scaring it by following the tracks around the map.
and then i can finish it and see what i did wrong the first time
Aye, give me a Moose, Coyote, Rabbit, Deer, Pretty much any other animal in the game and I can get the damn thing practically sat at my feet. I've got screenshots of plenty of one shot kills from within a few meters.. Just seems with this Bear, the second I cross the 75 meter mark, he's OUT. Also, as for calling them in.. I've been hitting the missions hard, and killed A LOT of things.. However the Bear call is.. level 25? Or something to that effect? I'm like, level 16 or so. So no where near that. Also every time I load in, he's sat on almost a small island on the lake, the only way close to this is long grass.. crawling in that makes no sound, but NEVER gives you the low visibility mark for whatever reason.. only the reduced visibility mark.. And as previously stated, seems the second I cross over that 75 meter mark, he's doing his best Usain Bolt impression across the reserve. The point of my post isn't so much a "Help I can't do this.." but more of a "You need to fix this crap." I've had similiar with other picture taking missions.. some of which where I've near as damnit inserted the camera up an animals nose and the games just been like "Nope. Don't want that picture. Take another."
To give you an idea of the issue I'm having here.. the Devs are forcing us to take pictures of animals to be able to complete the missions the game gives us.. but not giving us any sort of tools to get it done with.. I mean imagine it flipped around and the game was all about taking pictures of animals, and instead of various guns you could get various cameras and lenses etc.. But then a mission came up that said "Well, gotta kill one of the bears.." and the only gun it gives you is a .22LR handgun.. That's basically what it's doing for these picture taking missions. I mean.. even in all the BS 'Doc' gives you on the lead up to the mission, he tells you about how the dude that wants the picture is always getting 'too close for comfort' (should take his own damn pictures then tbh.) to the Bears and how he 'doesn't suggest you get that close to them' yet I'm having to get so close to the bear I can smell it's balls and the game is still like "Nah, not close enough for that picture." It's completely stupid tbh.
Either scrubbed or like I said above man, give us the option to just like, buy a longer zoom for the camera so we can take pictures from further away? We get the tools to kill animals from 3-500 meters away.. yet when we have to take a picture we've gotta get close enough to hug the damn thing? and even then the game can be prone to going "Nope, don't like that picture.. take another."
If it is do what I did. Set up a tent just south of his spawn position (for me was on west side of the lake) then put another tent sort of north of his spawn point.
fast travel to the South tent and then slowly make your way north until you see him then fast travel to the north tent and take your picture just have cam ready as soon as you spawn into the north tent.
What I ended up doing, was dropping in an out of the game until the wind was blowing to the west, I then spawned at the outpost west of the lake, carefully made my way over there until I got within about 70 meters of him, then stood up and ran at him like a buffoon taking pictures like my camera was belt fed until the game said okay.. hilariously though (And recorded for the lols.) as the game said "Okay, job done." He disappeared.. and now I seem to have bugged bears that keep pretty much walking up next to me..
you are right though. some of the photomissions are really frustrating because the game doesnt seem to recognize any kind of zoom so you need to get stupidly close (wait for the Fallow Deer in front of the ''Königsberger See'' mission on hirschfelden
