Recurve Bow
OK

I just bought the weapons pack DLC today and was trying out the Crossbows and Recurve.

How the bloody heck do I aim with the recurve HA HA I mean I was point blank on a bison as she wondered up close and I hit her enough or glitch unsure which where she ran maybe 5-10 M's or so then sort of went into this staggered walk where I could literally walk right up to her and shoot her again. Even at point blank range I noticed I must have gone through 10-15 arrows trying to hit the blooming thing at point blank range.

it was like the arrows were shooting high over her even though I aimed at her. I found in order to hit her I had to almost be aiming at her belly or at the ground to have the arrows impact.

Thoughts on this as this seems a fun weapon but dang can get expensive missing so much and so badly!!!

I haven’t tried the recurve yet ,but from watching the streams, you have to aim at there feet for a lung shot, LOL.

go for the compound bows, preferably the CB70 with the tritium single post sight, and the 420 grain arrows, you will love that. 600 grain arrows if you are hunting big game.

Yeah I have been using the HAWK EDGE CB-70 + SWIFT-MARK 3 not yet got the 5 post unlocked yet but closing in on it. Love using it and might return to it as love it just trying out some of the new items see if was really worth the $3 for them HA HA

and yeah that is what I was sort of finding that in order to hit the body mid mass I was almost aiming at the feet like you said which feels to weird and awkward!

i have the three pin sight and five pin but dont care for them, the single tritium post is easy to place and see. but bow hunting is the way to go in this game, i have over 600 hours in and about 550 are with firearms, now i hardly carry them, love the bows once i got the hang of it.
i have more venison in my freezer than ted nugent.

Yeah same most mine are with rifles but I have enough in on bows to have unlocked most the bow gear and liking it a bit more as you can actually kill more animals with bow being silent and deadly HA HA Couple times yesterday and also today had some small herds of deer come and visit not many left alive HA HA

As for pins yeah at first was not sure on the 3 pin but once I got use to the pins and what range it actually helps alot to place the arrow better if you know the distance then just place the pin and might get it close. Nearly hit a red fox today with it from about 75M's out but just slightly over shot as I saw the arrow drop right behind the fox as grabbed out my binocs and saw it land. Not bad to be so close to a smaller animal at 75M's out. With a little practice should be hitting them more often

Thanks and you should finish up the crossbow section as I know for me I just bought that pack yesterday so trying to sort out what dot for what distance. Seems middle downs around 70M's or so but only used it little bit.

The confusing one is that recurve bow as no sight and if you aim the arrow at the animal it flies over it I found I had to aim at the feet practically for it to hit center mass even at point blank range!

The Crossbow will be up in around 2 days

For the recurve: the bow is zeroed at 40 meters. best is to take the middle of your screen as an indicator of what line you have to follow. i myself dont really use it due to the arrows ( big game is harder to kill ) and that i dont like to aim it and not hit consistently
yeah I noticed that with a compound the bison I shot from range would have dropped in 1 or 2 but the point blank with recurve took 4 at point blank and so many more missed due to aim being strange

A good video on how to aim the recurve bow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLQ3YyO1EY0

Also at the shooting range there is calendar hanging on the wall near the control booth. Stand at the other end of the platform and shoot at the calendar. It's about 20 meters. You get unlimited arrows so it doesn't cost anything. It's good practice.

I only try to shoot at animals around 20 meters away.

I can't really give any tips, I find the recurve easier to use than I thought it would be. I like the camera angel the used when aiming, seems to show enough of the arrow shaft to gauge it's flight. It's definitely a Marmite bow, you'll either love it or hate it.

Thanks good video and tips will have to try it out tomorrow.

One thing I noticed is even this guy was having problems getting the animals to drop with this bow like it just doesn't have the power of some of the other bows!
